Call a couple of department stores around you and see if they have them, and then go try on different ones.

Also, consider a non-spanx brand. Stores like Belk, Dillard’s and Macy’s usually carry sections of body shapers much like spanx these days!

If you have a Nordstrom near you, I would take a trip there and try a few different kinds on to see what works for you.  Or the people there are usually really knowledgable and helpful so maybe you can go in and ask what they would recommend.

I bought a pair of the waist-high Spanks recently, and was disappointed to find out that they only smoothed out my thighs, when I was looking for waist-area smoothing.  Be aware that just because they are high-waisted doesn’t mean that there is support in that area!

Also, Target carries a diffusion line of Spanx called Assets.

I have the Slim Cognito and LOVE IT!!  The first time I went dress shopping I didn’t have it on and dresses wouldn’t zip (by 4-5 inches).  I went back with the slim cognito on and the dresses zipped!  The sales girl was shocked!

I saw the other day that a Spanx boutique is opening up on RueLaLa on the 2nd.  I’m not sure what the selection will be, but there might be something good in there!
