I wore a longline bra and then this in nude (without the straps that connect to a regular bra since I had on a longline). I was very comfortable and secure.

I wore Spanx and my dress had a built in corset. Just don’t forget that if you wear Spanx, it all has to go somewhere!

I have the Slim Cognito and hate it. My thighs are full and soft so he let bands roll and cut into me. I rarely wear it. I guess if your slim or average it’s fine. I prefer shape wear with silicone bands so they don’t move.

I wore Spanx, but ended up taking them off halfway through the reception because they were very uncomfortable. My dress had an inner corset and cups sewn in so I didn’t really need additional undergarments.

I have a pair of spanx I wore to the first 2 fittings, but didn’t think it did enough to minimize the dreaded lower belly pooch, so I want to find something stronger…and my dress is fairly thin so I fear any corset etc with boning will show through all funny…I find spanx or good for smoothing lumps, but they won’t make you any smaller, they really are best for removing underwear lumps.

also consider bathroom.needs…… some spanx have a little ‘pee hole’ (yep i know….i did just say that!) but a lot of the.knock offs dont…..if you dint want to.have to totally take your whole dress off everytime you have to go make sure you have the hole (though forme.its still really hard to relax and.go bc my head is.like danger!!!! clothes are on don’t pee yet)

@michiru4ever:  Every body will be different, but I’m certainly not slim or average sized and the leg bands stay in place for me and I find the silicone very uncomfortable. I guess that’s why there are so many options.

OP, you can try them on at a some stores such as Nordstroms. Might be a good idea given the differences in experiences we have had.

Hahaha, the “double gusset” as they call it. OP, it’s a lifesaver… though weird to get used to at first.

ok i have a question related to this post….i have been giving this alot of thought….cuz im bridesmaid in 3 weeks, and my BFF has this amazing ball gown, and is also gonna weare the spanx type undergarment that hooks to her strapless bra….and well i did see hooks at the bottom, so maybe this is Too Much Information, but when in the corseted in dress, with the huge skirt and the spanx or whatever brand slimmer that hooks to the bra…..

well there is no easy way to put this….bbbbbbbbbbuuuuuutttt::

How do you pee if you need to on the day of after you get your dress on….like do you undress or just how…..it is reall making me curious….

Depends on your dress. Mine is too formfitting and has to be taken off to pee no matter what, no way to hike it up….luckily it’s zipper, I’d be screwed if the buttons were functional!

Sounds like she is using a body magic. I don’t think they’ll be able to snap it back themselves. If you dont have a double gusset potty before the ceremony and limit drinking. If you do have to pee… that is usually part of the MoH duties I believe.

That was one of my first thoughts when looking for a dress – I want a beautiful dress, but I need to be able to comfortably move, dance and yes, pee! I don’t want to be missing for 30 minutes everytime I go the bathroom and miss most of my reception! I will most like be wearing spanx, which can easily be removed. I am hoping to lose the weight the spanz will be slimming, but you just never know so I would like to be prepared!

@kansas_nurse:  With the gusseted crotch. More expensive items (like Spanx) have an opening at the crotch where the fabric overlaps and you can spread the fabric apart and you have pee access. If you have to poop… well, it all has to come off… so get that out of the way before you get dressed.
