I personally like the lanters the best, but it can be really hard to coordinate them because they take at least 2 people per lantern and it can be difficult to get everyone together, give everyone a lighter, etc. I think if you can logistically do the lanterns, do it! But make sure you have a well thought out plan of how to execute it

Definitely not lanterns. At least you know if you start a fire with sparklers and can then put it out. A lantern has the risk of going into a tree and starting a forest/brush fire, or landing on someone’s roof and burning down their house. IMO, they are way too risky, especially considering that you would be risking someone else’s property and not even your own.

And not only that, the lanterns are straight up littering. You are throwing trash up and letting the wind take it wherever it may. Ya know, right into a lake, or into someone’s pool to clog the filter, or tangled in the tree tops, etc.

Go with the sparklers.

I was just thinking…. and maybe it wouldn’t work, but what if you tethered the lanterns so that they could only float up so far, and could be pulled down and properly disposed of later? I’ve nevber seen it done that way, but if you really love the lanterns it could be a workable way to have them without the fire and littering issues.

@lovekiss:  +1, also it’s bad for animals that may come across them and choke on the pieces.

Sparklers all the way! They make for gorgeous photos.
