Aw that’s really cute about the cranes! At least you still have one earing you can treasure. My SO makes me little story books for every occaision or sometimes just randomly. They are really funny and he cuts pictures and quotes out of magazines and newspapers and creates a story. They are something just between the 2 of us and I’ve never shown anyone else, but still more special than some more expensive things  πŸ™‚

Some of my favourites have been just the cards he gives me, he knows I love the long messages he sometimes writes, telling me how he feels about me and our future together, so he tries to write long ones as much as possible. It’s so sweet. πŸ™‚

FI has given me nice pens with the logo of the company where he works. They are free, but they work great, and he knows I love pens! I use them at work and don’t like to share them in case someone takes them from me! When I use one of the pens, I think of him.

A jeweler could make your earring into a pendant!

The sweetest gift my FI ever got me was actually so random.

First of all, we rarely exchange gifts — he’s gotten me 4 or so very nice gifts for more monumental occasions, but that’s spread over the past 7 years, so not too often. We never get eachother little knick knacks because we live in a rather small apartment and have moved around a bunch, so are both very wary of accumulating extra stuff.

Anyway, he was at a conference in Nashville and as usual, I wasn’t expecting anything, but he came home with an umbrella for me with horses on it. It’s not really my style, but I love horses. He said, “I saw this and I know how much you love horses, so I wanted to get it for you.” My heart melted. I look forward to rainy days when I can pull it out and it always puts a smile on my face.

AprilinTX:  My SO’s first gift to me was a gorgeous EXPENSIVE gold bracelet. The clasp was a bit loose but I didn’t do anything to fix it thinking it would be fine, needless to say I soon lost it, freaked out, searched to find where I could buy another and forked over a heap to buy it and pretended it never happened lol! I still really wish I never lost the original for the sentimental value though πŸ™ I also wish I just told the truth that I’d lost it so I wouldn’t have wasted that money but I was too freaked at the time lol!

FI always buys me very thoughtful gifts. My favorite ones are the stuffed animals though. he always gets me very special meaningful ones, we pick out the names and personalities together, and they join the “family” of other stuffed animals on our oversized chair. We are dorks. πŸ™‚

so far I have a sloth, a bulldog, a sharpei, a small bear, and a large bear. We are working on getting a baymax to join the family.

I am a Rod Stewart FANATIC.  He?  Not so much. But for Christmas one year he got tickets-ROW 1 seats A&B.  I could almost reach out and touch the guy!  Awesome night.

I also spend a lot of time in my kitchen on the computer listening to CDs {I’m old fashioned, don’t do the computer thingy with downloads or whatever} and he always sends me cds he thinks I will enjoy.

AprilinTX:  Yay, yay, YAY!! I am so, so happy you found your earring. My heart ached for you when I read your initial post saying that you lost it. You must feel so happy and relieved.

I love paper cranes, too. One year, I decided I would fold 1,000 of them. I gave up after about 50 or so — and still had paper cranes sitting all over the house. (lol)

When DH and I were first dating, he gave me a gold bracelet. We were still in college (undergraduate), and we had only been dating a couple of months. It wasn’t a super expensive bracelet, but it was sort of like a rope/twist, with a little clasp at the end. The first gift he ever gave me. I wore it all the time — probably for 3 or 4 years — until the clasp thinned out and broke one day. I didn’t realize the metal had thinned. I was walking around outside at the time, so there was really no way I could have found it. I retraced my steps to try, but didn’t have any luck. I cried for days over my lost bracelet. DH told me he would get me a new one, but I told him not to. Because it wouldn’t be the same. It just made me really sad that I lost THAT one. Which he thought was silly — LOL.

Whenever he travels to a certain city in California for business, he makes a point of stopping by an anime store that I love. And he always brings me something with Totoro on it: keychain, little figures, stuffed animals. To me, those are super sweet gifts.
