I found this poem, with a bit of tweaking you could change the last two sentences.

Dearest Mother,
You’re the friend I most adore.
You taught me everything I know
and more.
You never abandoned me
when times got tough.
You held my trembling hands
when the waters were rough.
Mother, you’ve always been by my side.
Holding me up
When I wanted to hide.
Because of you,
I now walk with pride.

If you walk me down the aisle

You would make me the happiest bride.

That’s why I want you on my wedding day

To walk down the aisle by my side.

My poetry skills are crap – but I guess it’s a start….

I dont really have any ideas, but i love your idea of a baby photo where she’s holding your hand.. i think that would be so sweet!

@mcgoo:  Um…I think we’re twins. My father left my mom when I was young and she raised my sister and myself basically without his help. I’ve already told my mom she’s walking me down the aisle, but now I thinking of a unique way to formally ask her. Thank you for this post; I love it!

@mcgoo:  I think a nice pic of the 2 of you would be nicer than a stock photo (IMHO). I can’t wait to ask my mom (officially)! Good luck 🙂
