I don’t think it’s required for the bride and groom to speak — but someone involved should give some brief remarks to all the guests.  For example, at my sister’s wedding, my dad gave the "welcome" speech, thanking everyone for coming and whatnot (as he and my mom were technically the hosts).

Fiance and I are planning to do some kind of words of welcome/thanks for coming after the best man and Maid/Matron of Honor speeches. We are hosting so it’s consistent with that. Definitely brief–something short and sweet.

me and my fiance are both giving speeches; we’re unique because we had hard times long distance we’re talking trans-continental we have many people who will travel to be with us, he has friends from australia, germany and england and his family is english my family is  also scattered from all over, since we both paid for the expenses no help from our parents we’ll be gving the thanks you speeches, my Fiance is going to give special thanks  to my sis who’s a flight attendant without her help our romance would have never flourished with all the buddy passes
