I actually do something completely different, and it’s kind of weird.

I was a bridesmaid for my godsister three years ago and I gave a speech.  I’d literally been practicing it forever, but not the traditional way.  I never once wrote it down, I just began saying it aloud whenever I thought of it, added things in, took things out, reworded things, all in my head and never on paper.

I despise public speaking, and I know that if I tried to read a speech from a paper I would be shaky and ehhh the whole time.  Instead, I just “memorized” the gist of my speech slowly, and eventually recited it exactly how I wanted it verbatim on the day of.

I think a lot of people’s issue, mine included, is an unfamiliarity with their speech patterns and the topic at hand. Sure they know what they sort of want to say, but that’s different from knowing exactly how to say it, and often times having a guide can be detrimental rather than helpful.

    Anyway, that’s my 2 cents. 🙂
