My husband and I are planning to TTC in June of next year. I don’t have any reason to think that I will have any issues TTC, but I’m a little worried about my husband. One of his testicles is very small and one is normal sized. We’ve decided that we want to do a sperm analysis before we TTC to make sure everything is ok. But I have no idea how to go about this. Should I try to talk to my OBGYN to get a referal? My husband doesn’t have a primary physician, so if we need to get a referal from a primary physician then we would need to find one for him first. Also, can we just request for him to have a sperm analysis?

@Tomato22: My own OB-GYN ordered one for my husband. I’m not sure how he would have felt about ordering it if my husband and I hadn’t already been trying unsuccessfully for 6 months and if I didn’t have specific concerns about my husband’s sperm (because he has a varicocele and also had an undescended testicle). But you could always try asking your OB-GYN and see what he/she says.

It’s pretty normal (from my best of knowledge) for testies to be different sizes. That doesn’t necessarily make him any less fertile. I would try to BD for a few months before doing a test like that! Plus, if there isn’t anything wrong it’s indirectly hurtful to just start testing away when there may be no problem at all!
