Oh wow — nope, never noticed extra spiders through multiple pregnancies. Thank goodness. Has it been rainy in your area? That’s when I notice spiders indoors.

candy11:  Spiders come out every summer in Australia, whether or not I’m pregnant!

A possible “rational” explanation – have you been doing any work on your house in preparation for baby?

The spiders are attracted to the scent of upcoming birth… they’re obviously plotting something… protect your newborn at all costs! Else they’ll carry it away to the spidey underworld where it’ll become the next Arachnid Supreme Ruler and Lord of the New Spider Order which will DOMINATE the EARTH post WW3!! The spiders know! The spiders knoooooooooooooooooow!!!!

Ever since I got pregnant I been seeing them more around the house. About a week ago I felt something move on my arm as I passed through the halway,i looked at my arm and saw nothing. I then looked all over the walls and floor still noting. I went to my room and layed down and it crawled out of my T-shirt on to my arm I smaked it off , and  I littary cried because I’m so terrified of them. Then today I went to Safeway with my husband and I felt something cold fall on my face next to my mouth I wiped my face and a spider fell off. I’m 14 week so far and I’m terrified of more landing on me cuz this only happend to me while pregnant

I was going to sugest it your up here in the northern hemisphere that its fall leading into winter so the domestic funnel webs (or I think americans call them barn spiders) and out house verities will be heading indoors looking for a warm place to bed down for the winter

when I was pregnant I didnt notice any spiders, I like spiders so probably would of noticed but nope non… there was an influx during the cold months just after I gave birth though

candy11 :  I’m halfway and have yet to see a spider. It’s late fall/winter now where I’m at so I doubt I will now. You must just be a spider magnet lol!

Nope, hardly any spiders for me and our house is full of them, then again I have seen more house centipedes lately, which is worse and they probably ate all of the spiders. Sigh.

I grew up near the Navajo Nation and I remember something about spiders and pregnancy in Navajo lore! I definitely remember that you were NOT supposed to kill them when you were pregnant…but I don’t remember the rest of the story. I’m pretty sure the spider woman is like Mother Earth in some of the creation stories. I made sure to assign the task of spider murder to someone else, just in case!
