My most exciting wedding gift was a steam mop. I was actually much more excited about that than the checks and cash that we received.

Almost all of our wedding gifts were monetary so they were all pretty fabulous. The best actual gift (from the shower) is a toss up between the Kitchenaid Pro & Dyson Animal Ball vac. Both have changed my life and I don’t know how I survived for so long without ’em.

So far we’ve only gotten two, but they are both strong contenders for best!

My parents gave us a very generous monetary gift.

My grandmother painted us a beautiful painting of a lake and mountains (to represent B.C. where she lives). She wrote our wedding date on the back and it’s just such a wonderful and meaningful gift!

My Mother-In-Law made us a beautiful quilt. That was definitely the most meaningful gift we got.

We got mostly monetary gifts. My favorite actual gifts were probably my aunt buying & prepping all our appetizers or my grandma who is buying us a furniture set of my choosing for our bedroom!

My kitchenaid mixer!!!

The best off registry gifts we received was an ornate, leather Bible with our new last name engraved in gold on the cover and a stone block mural for the wall.

A one week stay at condo right on the beach in Florida for our 1 year anniversary next year from his Aunt and Uncle.  Beyond generous!

We have not had our wedding yet, but my bosses are paying for our plane tickets to Kauai and letting us stay in their condo for 1 week for free for our honeymoon.  that’s the best gift and only gift we have lol

My answer is the same as the one I wrote down in the worst wedding gift thread: the Japanese fertility rat, birthing rope, and baby book.  They were weird, but I really cherish them.  Same goes for the other gifts the Japanese folks gave us: a full tea ceremony set (including a VERY VERY VERY nice tea bowl from Kyoto!!!) and some really nice pots.  The two old potters I befriended there each made a personalized dinner set for us (one serving bowl plus two plates each), and those are absolutely fantastic.

Otherwise, I really love all the pottery we received.  We didn’t register for normal dishes and such; we just registered for a bunch of individual pieces of art… and we got them.  Here are some of the pieces we received:

(Sauce Boat by Alazana on Etsy)

(Side Plate by Megan Daloz)

(Dinner Plate by kristenkswanson on Etsy)

(Dinner Plate by inaeent on Etsy)

(Cookie Jar by Lisa Orr)

1.)    A framed invitation in a shadow box, it was so thoughtful and beautiful. The giver knew I made the invites myself and wanted to showcase it. She even went and found the paper that matched one of the pieces on the invite. I LOVE this gift.

2.)    We had someone pay for our hotel the night of the wedding because they knew we paid for the wedding and could not afford a nice hotel.

Our friends gave us this amazing Cuisinart thing that makes waffles on one side and omelettes on the other at the same time. It was our favourite thing on the registry and  my hubby is still patting it lovingly and referring to it as the “wamlette” maker a week later.

Also, a friend of my mom’s gave us this amazing 600 thread count sheet set that is way nicer than the one we registered for. We haven’t put them on the bed yet but I am super excited to; I’ve never had sheets that nice!

My parents and DH’s parents each paid for a third of the total wedding cost and each gave us crystal gifts (a pitcher from my parents that matches the wine glasses and champagne flutes I got at my shower, and crystal bordeaux glasses with our names and wedding date engraved on them from FIL/SMIL)

We loved pretty much everything we got but these ones stand out!

We got so many wonderufl, thoughtful gifts, but the best gift is probably a f-ing elite burr grinder. So excited. We use it all the time.
