I use a dishwasher. You do have to load and unload it, but I find it’s a similar amount of work to standing there and hand drying everything and then putting it away. Plus you can just walk away from it for awhile and unload it when you want, rather than putting everything away the second you wash it or letting them sit in the drainboard. (I hate seeing dishes just lying out on the counter or drainboard, it looks cluttered.)

When my Fiance and I first moved into our house, we didn’t have a dishwasher and a lot of time was definitely taken up doing dishes. When you do the dishes by hand it almost seems like you always are doing them since dishes need to be cleaned after every meal. I was so happy when we finally got our dishwasher. While some things still need to be washed by hand, the dishwasher definitely uses up less time overall, especially since we’re only two people right now. We don’t run the dishwasher everyday, we wait until it’s full, so all we do is put the dishes in after we eat and every 2 or three days we run it and then we empty it which doesn’t take longer than 5 minutes really. I definitely think it’s faster and easier than washing everything by hand.

I haven’t had a dish washer in years.  I dream of the day we buy a house with a dishwasher!

We dont have a dishwasher.. but I would love one. I think the best part about them is that if you don’t feel like doing dishes that night there isnt a pile of dishes left on the counter.

My first house did not have a dishwasher but it was only my son & I so it wasn’t too bad but now there are four of us and I’m so glad my current house has one. If anything, it’s a place to throw those dirty dishes in a hurry when unexpected company is coming ๐Ÿ™‚

I have a dishwasher, but I usually just wash the dishes by hand. It seems like a waste to use a dishwasher when there are only two people. The time it takes to hand wash two of everything is minimal. If I am hosting a large gathering, then I use the dishwasher.

On a side note….some of this may have to do with the fact that my mom taught me is the first step to learning how to cook is to always have clean dishwater available. That way as you use something, you can wash it and put it away and by the time you are done cooking, nothing should be left out except the pots you used to cook and the plates you used to eat.

I voted that dishwashers are a lifesaver. Right now we don’t have one, and I totally miss it. I feel like we spend so much time doing dishes and it’s one of my lease favorite things to do.

    Oh well, someday!

I don’t trust my cleaning skills, so I like having the dishwasher to make sure everything is super clean.

@bells Make sure you read the instructions for the dishwasher. Most of the time the problem with dishes not coming clean is due to improper use. (For instance some dishwashers work better with liquid soap than the little gel packs or vice versa)

    I AM the dishwasher ๐Ÿ˜›

We don’t have enough space in our kitchen for a big fancy dishwasher although I wish we did. I hate doing dishes. Luckily Fiance doesn’t mind a whole lot and he’ll even do them without being asked from time to time ๐Ÿ˜€

Dishwashers are like magic. Before I leave for work, I add soap and turn it on. When I get home from work, I have clean dishes. It’s awesome.

I love love love having a dishwasher and MUCH prefer that to washing by hand! I’ve washed by hand before (college, apartment without dishwasher, etc) and do NOT miss it. I also love my dishwasher and am a huge believer in a great soap because I can put in something barely rinsed/NOT rinsed and it comes out spotless.

Our kitchen is basically a closet so there’s no room for a dishwasher. I am so sick of doing dishes every day. ๐Ÿ™
