Following on from a thread about how much an average amount of leave is, are you happy with how much holiday and sick leave you get?
Do you feel like it is enough?
Would you like more and, if you would, how much would you like?

As a first-year teacher teaching kindergardeners with autism, I feel like 5 sick days I not enough. I’ve already used 4 of them 🙁 it’s not even January yet.

@IronMango: There should be some sort of allowance for people in jobs with high rates of infection for minor illnesses!
I’ve had quite a lot of sick leave this year thanks to working in an over-crowded open-plan office, but thankfully management are really understanding (mostly because my line management have been ill almost as much)

Neither of us have paid leave. Our jobs are extremely flexible, so it is really a trade off. We can come and go as we please, which to us is more important, we just don’t get paid for it.

I actually get three weeks of either paid vacation or sick days, and one week off around the holidays, I feel like it’s very generous!

I live in Australia and we have 4 weeks paid annual leave, 2 weeks paid sick leave plus quite a few public holidays. I am also very lucky in that my work allows us to an RDO (Rostered Day Off) once a month (and we can accumulate 3 days before we need to take leave).

I have to use flex time if I want paid time off so I get as much as I can save up. We get .04 of an hour for every hour we work. If new want unpaid time off they don’t care as long as we get our work done. I think I’d prefer a set amount of paid weeks off because they zero out my flex time very January and July so I usually only end up with part of one week paid for every six months.

I only get 5 days vacation, 3 days sick and 7 holidays 🙁
After 3 years I will get 10 days vacation..
After 7 year I will get 15 days vacation..
Eveyrhting else remains the same.. sigh..
Definately not enough..

We have paid leave, (PTO), and as long as I’ve built the hours, I can take off as much as I want. I take off 3-4 weeks total throughout the year, and get paid for each day of that. I’m also part time.

I get 20 days of PTO to be used as either vacation or sick days, and also paid holidays. I think it’s a very fair amount.

I have 30 days’ holiday (25 + 5 days for long service) + 8 public holidays and statutory sick pay – although it’s fairly relaxed at my office so it’s always been full pay given I’ve never been off longer than 2 days straight for illness. I feel this is generous enough 🙂

I actually feel like I have a good amount of leave. Would I take more if given the chance? SURE!
12 days of sick per year (that includes trips to dentist, doctors, taking care of a sick relative, or just plain sick)
22 days of vacation
Sick days get to roll over (I’ve got 60 sick days as of now). Some sick gets converted into vacation with some magic formula I don’t understand.
Vacation does not roll over in my office, but I use them up all the time on purpose.

I’m a teacher, so there’s automatically Thanksgiving, Christmas, spring, and summer breaks. We also get 10 sick days a year, 3 of which can be used as personal days. I would probably use more of them if prepping for a sub wasn’t such a headache!
