My first reaction to this post was, I hate working with women. Sad, but true. I have NEVER had a good experience working with women. Socially fine, but work never. I have found that, especially in politics, the better you do, the more women are trying to cut you down. I had a high level politican pull me aside once and tell me “You must be doing something right, the men respect you and the women hate you.”
Sometimes I feel that we women are our own worst enemies.
Do you prefer working with men or women? Do you think that there are times when we are our own worst enemies?

As far as my “career” type jobs go, I really don’t have a preference working with men or with women. I guess I’ve been lucky in that we are all mature, respectful, and actually kind of fun to be around.

yeah I prefer working with men, they arent as affected by office politics as women are. I have found working with women (especially retail) can be much more emotionally draining lol!
However,Im training to be a hairdresser, which has a much higher ratio of women to men in a working environment, so Im probably shooting myself in the foot *sigh*
But so far,at college 99% of the time we have all been really supportive of each other

I like working with women, as I find that in all male environments, it becomes a boys club and the men start to make inappropriate comments/looks. perhaps the best is just a mixed/co-ed environmment.

I work part time as a cashier while I go to school and I’m pretty much working with women only haha. I’ve gotten so used to it I don’t mind. A lot of the guys at my work say creepy inappropriate things anyways so I try to avoid them 😉

I answered men… haha Actually either is fine, there’s certainly good and bad of both, but I find women gossip a lot and social matters tend to get in the way of work. I mostly have worked in elementary schools, so maybe I’m just biased. Women can be pretty catty to each other.

Men. Darling Husband works with all women and gets so frustrated. He says, at least with guys if you have a problem you say “hey man, you’re an ass” and then you get over it. Women backstab all the time.
I will always prefer to work with men.

@kerensa: see, I can handle men and their stupid comments. Years of practice has taught me how to handle them and put them in their place.

I seem to be in the minority, but it doesn’t really matter to me.

this poll is sad, as thats why women are continually discriminated against in the workforce (ie that glass celing/ lower incomes/ less prestige jobs), if we hold this opinion of ourselves, why on earth should other people not hold this opinion?

Men, depending if they are above you or your co-horts. I prefer as cohorts.
I get along with most any woman , but they do tend to come with lots of drama 😉

I usually only get along with one or two women and the rest end up getting on my dang nerves! I cant imagine working with only men and in what world I would be more comfortable with that.
So I guess I have to say either. To be honest, I think I have always only worked with mainly women.

@vmec: Exactly my point, we are our own worst enemies. We, as women, talk alot about “girl power” but it has been my experience that “girl power” lasts from out the lips and no further.
