I think I got a deal on my dress!  I found a liquidation bridal shop sale (she was moving 4 stores down), and sample dresses were 50% off!

I haven’t gotten into the details of the reception just yet…

Friendors! I always enourage people to consider (carefully) their possible friendors. Don’t say yes to EVERY offer, but when it’s someone/something you think you can count on? For sure. And sales/coupons/discounts!

Our examples: Our cake is a free gift from FI’s old work (at a bakery) which is very awesome! My hair is a free gift from a friend who offered to do my hair in lieu of a gift. She is excellent and is usually the one that cuts my hair anyway. (Note: Both of these women were already invited to the wedding, regardless.) Also….FI’s dad knew someone and we got 25% off our venue. We got our linens off of CraigsList and plan to resell. My Mom’s co-worder is a Le Cordon Bleu graduate (who is, interestingly, a PhD that runs the Special Education dept in her school – very cool guy) that does catering on the side = very amazing catering prices. I got my dress from a sale. Originally $1100 I think, got it for $749. Oh, and we got a deal on FI’s Tux through the formalwear shop – if his GMs rented from them, his rental was free! Ordered our invitations off 123print and had an amazing email coupon! Used a 40% off coupon on the ringbearer pillow…got the flowergirl dress on sale during an “after holiday sale.” Also, we got FI’s wedding ring for free! With the purchase of my ring, his ring was free. So we got $1100 worth of wedding rings for like $650! Our favor bags were discounted…

I’m honestly having a hard time coming up with things we didn’t find amazing deals on or know amazing people for? Our photography and officiant are the only two vendors that don’t have some sort of awesome “discount” associated with them I think.

Moral of my story/Lesson to others: DO YOUR RESEARCH! 🙂

The venue for ceremony, cocktail, and reception waived all rental fees, paid for a Charm City Cake, threw in the honeymoon suite for 2 night, plus 1 night in their penthouse equiv. on our 1 year anniversary.

I got our guest book and pen set, garter, flower girl basket, and ring bearer pillow in a kit for 50% off at Michaels. $29.99 instead of $60 and I’ve seen the same online for $80.

My dress was a store sample. $1400 gown for $599.

My BMs gifts are all from The Limited, Victoria’s Secret, and a local jewelry store, all for 30-80% off.

Photographer threw in $200 of prints and an e-shoot discount.

My wedding band is 10% off for getting the ering from them.

Best deal: my florist is doing my 90 person wedding with expensive flowers and incredible centerpieces for $790 delivery and tax included. For the same quantity, etc, I was quoted $1-2k by other florists.

Oh, yes! @britishbroccoli’s post reminded me that we got wedding party gifts either in bulk or with discounts on EVERYTHING. Also got flowers and other decor on sale…probably 50-60% of it was on sale.

Now I’m looking for our mini-moon on Living Social. 🙂 Lol

I bid on a photographer and got it for under $300 on an online auction.

I got my veil and tiara for a total of $100 from a wholesaler.

My dress was $600 which I think it pretty good.

Got a complimentary personalized hanger because my order was delayed.

Ordered most of my tags, signs, rehershal invites, address labels, cards from vistaprint and only paid $20 in shipping.

Got a deal on our thumb print guest book for $30 instead of 60 from online wedding groupon.

Still looking for a videographer, cake and makeup.

eBay – I got the dress, boots, invites, bridal purse, BM’s jewelry and photo album from there. Some great stuff but be sure to check out the sellers’ ratings.

My photographer is only charging me hourly for 4 hours since my wedding is on a Sunday (which saves me close to $600)

I got my invitations half off at Hobby Lobby ($25 for 100 invites)

I also got my ring bearer pillow, flower girl basket, and guest book half off at Hobby Lobby ($35 for all 3)

I’m using a friend of the family as a caterer who is just charging us the cost of food

One of my bridesmaids is doing my hair (saving me $100)

My venue is 1/3 the normal Saturday cost since I’m doing it on a Sunday

Found my hair flower at Claires for $5

I’d sign up for Wedding Channel sale notifications, we got our dj for $1200 (and an additional 10% off for paying up front). His normal fee for the day is over $3,000.

I am THE bargain bride.  I guess some might call me a cheapskate, lol!  I am just trying to pull this thing off as affordably as possible.  I definitely don’t mind sharing tips!

My dress came from a consignment shop, it was $233.

My invites were from Vistaprint and I paid $30 and some change for them (including shipping and envelopes).

Save-The-Date Cards were free, only paid shipping which was around $5 (also Vistaprint, which I can’t recommend highly enough!)

Someone is letting me borrow all of her chair sashes, table runners, vases, and silk accent flowers for centerpieces for FREE.  All I’ve got to buy for the centerpieces are aqua brites, water beads, and a couple of silk flowers for each one.  I’ve found a set of aqua brites and water beads on eBay for $25, total.  It comes with more than enough beads and lights to do all of my tables.  So, I’ll be spending around $40 on ALL of my centerpieces (not each, all of them total).

I’m DIY-ing my favors.  I’ve been saving our old salsa jars for months.  I went and bought fabric for $10 and spent around $4 on ribbon to decorate the lids of the jars.  Someone is making me free sticker labels with each guest’s name on them.  The guests will fill the jars with candy at the candy buffet and take home.  Future Mother-In-Law bought all of my vases for the candy buffet.  All I have to do is get candy, and I think she might buy that for us, too.

I did splurge on a cupcake tower and cake stand.  I found Opulent Treasures stands at TJ Maxx.  The cake stand was $19.99 and the cupcake tower was $39.99.  So, about $60 for that stuff.  Then, I spent around $3 on string and glass beads to accent them with.

We’re going to buy a two-tiered cake from an amateur baker we know (who makes beautiful, delicious cakes).  We’re not telling her it’s for a wedding, though.  So, I’m not sure the cost, but I’m assuming around $75-100 for that.

We’re also making cupcakes and other desserts for the candy buffet.  They’ve got cake mix for $1 a box at the store, and each box makes around 25 cupcakes.  We plan to make 100, so that’s $4 on mix… not too sure how much the frosting will cost because we’re making homemade.  I did spent $12 on sunflower cupcake pans, too.

Flower Girl dresses are on eBay for around $20.

I still have a lot more stuff to buy, so I don’t know what other deals I might come across.  The next thing on my agenda is flowers.  I need to find a good deal on silk flowers, so I’m hoping to stumble upon a good Hobby Lobby coupon in the next few weeks!

So far I have been blessed beyond belief! Friendors are the best

Using our church as venue for ceremony and reception – free

Good friend who has a professional photography business is giving me the whole package for $1000 instead of $2000 and then instead of paying, I am baby-sitting her newborn.

Good friend who has a bakery is gifting us a wedding cake!

My brother is starting a videography business and is going to video for $100

Two friends from church who do hair and makeup are giving me a good deal

Couple from church who I have dogsit for are painting me a thumbprint tree in exchange for dogsitting

150 invitations from ebay for $30 (the kind that you design and run through your own printer)

Thinking about ordering my dress from dressilyme for around $300-350

Two bridesmaids dresses from WB classifieds for $50 each

6 white teapots I may use for centerpieces from WB classifieds for $30

Purple wedding shoes I’m thinking about using from Belk for $25

I DIYed everything and bought a lot of stuff second hand from Craigslist and Weddingbee classifieds. Who really cares if chargers or vases are used? Buying used generally saves about 50-75%

Michaels 40% off coupons are awesome too!
