I got married to my husband at 21 and we had our first child when I was 22 and our youngest child at 24. I really had to grow up. I’m 29 now and I’m happy with my life ☺

Biggest difference between now and my eary 20s? I tolerate less bullshit. No one deserves to have fake friends in their life, and I’ve finally figured that out.

I work more, too.

But other than that? I’m more or less the same.

I am 25 now and can say I have changed quite a bit since I was 20 years old. I was in a long term relationship, 6 years long, until I was 21, but we did start to see our values and futures differently. We broke up and that was the best thing to happen to me. Although there was a hard period right after of grieving, soon after I went deeper into exploring who I am and what I want out of life. I feel like your 20s is really the time to do that. I ended up moving to another country. I converted to a different religion. I graduated with my bachelor’s and master’s degrees. I learned a lot about friendship, love, family and most importantly myself. My life shifted quite a bit, and I have never been truer to myself.

This is not to convince anyone not to get married before 25, but it is important to know that you both will continue to grow as people and will need to actively have conversations while that evolution is happening. This is especially true when young and in love (like I am now!), but also as you continue your life journey together.
