Since coming to WB, I’ve noticed quite a few threads related to the lack of people commenting on an e-ring, and the insecurity that its caused. This has made me curious about how often women actually get comments from random people on their rings. I mean, our family and friends are going to comment of course, but what about aquaintances and strangers?
I’ve only had a couple people comment on my ring, but I have a small solitaire, so I wasn’t really expecting people to. I’ve seen some serious rocks here on WB though, and some settings that have brought a tear to my eye.
Here is my question to all the ladies here: Do you get alot of comments from random people on your e-ring? Do you make comments to random people about theirs?

I have an ering as a RHR. SO let me pick it out as a RHR.
It’s .66 ct, H, VS1 set in yellow gold, Sz 5.
I have never gotten any compliments on it. However, I have been told “It’s tiny”. Yes, of course it’s small, but how rude!

No. I don’t go out of my way to show it off or make it more visible than I usually do. I do not comment on other people’s rings: I simply don’t care.

I do compliment women on their rings, mostly cashiers.
There was a woman with a very small diamond, probably 3mm. It was tiny. I said, “Ooh, I love your set! So classic.” She beamed and said thanks.
I actually just complimented a ring in Walmart a couple days ago. It was a three stone princess cut ring. I said, “I love your ring. It’s gorgeous.” She muttered thanks and handed me my receipt. It seems not everyone appreciates the compliment.

I get way more random comments than I was expecting. I’ve only had positive comments so far.. it happens quite often.

@Bridey77: I get compliments quite a bit. The best is when it happens in front of my husband. He beems with pride. 🙂
I compliment strangers sometimes.
Edit: I voted “sometimes” because I wouldn’t really say it’s all the time.

I’ve only had my ring since the 23rd, and I’ve been sick in bed since Christmas Eve so I haven’t even had the chance to go out. However I had to make a run to a store on the 23rd, the day I got my ring, and a girl told me I had “nice ice” and started asking me about it and my FI. After that we ran in to another store and an older woman saw my ring and asked me if FI and I were movie stars, lol!
It won’t matter much to me how many compliments I do or don’t get because I think my ring is extremely perfect, I love it and so does my family!

@IheartUFC: Very pretty and classic! I am curious as to what the people who called your ring small would say about mine. I have a .25 🙂

I did with my old ering, but I was a cashier at the time, so people had to look at my hands quite a bit.
With my new ring, not so much. Nobody ever has a reason to look at my hand anymore.
When I was a cashier, I did sometimes comment on customers rings, but I would never go out of my way to tell someone I dont know that I liked their ring. I dont care to talk to people I dont know.

@canarydiamond: I’m not surprised. Your ring is one of the most beautiful on the bee.

@Bridey77: I would compliment it. I love solitaires, regardless of the stone size, unless they’re too big. Huge diamonds make me go 0_o but small stones are just fine.

I get compliments on my ring all the time because I work in customer service, and my hands are always visible to customers. It actually makes me self-conscious sometimes because I’m shy. I will sometimes comment on strangers rings, but usually only if they comment on mine first.

@IheartUFC: You’d surprise me if you did, and I’m fine with that. I adore my ring so much, no one else has to. My husband gave me a small ring, but he gave me his HUGE heart first. Anything after that would look small to me anyway:)

is it creepy if you’re the person who comments? I do it all the time and the women look somewhat grateful and excited to show it off but some don’t look thrilled to show it off at all!
I usually just say that it’s a beautiful ring! I met one of my friends through commenting on her ring lol but I don’t want to sound like a creep. Maybe it’s because I’m looking at rings for my gf now so i’m really interested in the specs of certain rings..

I get comments reasonably frequently at work considering I’ve had the ring for a year so most people would have seen it by now. It’s a 1.23 solitaire with a slightly unusual setting, and I think that people notice it because it’s a little larger than average (plus I have thin fingers so it looks bigger on me).
