@janetsnakehole:   Hi.  Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge!  I have recently begun shopping for dresses and found 2 at DB that are on my short list –  http://www.davidsbridal.com/Product_All-Over-Beaded-Lace-Trumpet-Gown-9T9612   and   http://www.davidsbridal.com/Product_Cap-Sleeve-Lace-Over-Satin-Gown-with-Illusion-Back-9T3299

I know they are only on sale a few more days, so I need to decide over the weekend.  Both of the dresses I tried on would need minimal alterations.

I’m not thrilled to hear though that there is a very good chance that when I purchase my “new” dress that I might very well be purchasing what other bridal stores consider a “sample” dress.  Is there anyway to increase the chances that the dress I end up with is in fact new?

Hello!

Thanks for this thread!  My wedding is in July and I found my dress in December. I felt a little pressured to buy it that day because they told me it wouldn’t be in until May. Well i got the dress a month later.  Then i called to make an appointment for bridesmaids dresses for March 22nd and they told me to come in ASAP because we needed to order them ASAP cause my wedding is in July.  Well I decided on a dress and all 3 girls got theirs in 1 week.  Man they really make you nervous to purchase. Even though I am happy with the choices, I just want to warn brides to take their time at the DB in Massachusetts and Portland Maine.

@janetsnakehole:

Hello! I have a question about altering an embellishment on my dress. I know it likely wont bother anyone else, but to me, the little trail of fabric above the highest flower is bothersome (see there by my right hand?), and I was wondering if the DB seamstresses will be able to take it off for me? I asked my consultant about removing an applique from another dress and she said they would not do it, but wanted to get a second opinion. Please help! Thank you!

HI!

I hope you are still checking this board. I am planning on buying my dress from David’s Bridal next week and was under the impression that you don’t buy the actual dress from the store but they order a new one for you. Well I just called to make an appointment to trying on the dress again for my family and was told that you buy the dress you try on. I asked if you have an option to order a new one and they said that you can order but it could come from either the factory or another store.

I just want to make sure that is really the case. What is you want to buya dress with extra length? Are the extra length dresses from the factory or do stores have them in stock as well?

Thanks!

Hi janetsnakehole! I want to buy this dress: http://www.davidsbridal.com/Product_Tulle-Gown-with-Illusion-Neck-and-Lace-Appliques-MS251035_Sale-Sale-Bridal-Gowns

I read online that DB has sales in January – is that true? Do you think this dress will be further discounted during a sale in January and I should wait or should I just buy it now? I wouldn’t want the dress to be discontinued.

I would really like your opinion. Thank you!

Hi everyone,

I made a wedding dress purchase at David’s Bridal, but cancelled the order because I realized I didn’t want the dress. I was wondering if there is anyone out there who found someone to give the credit to? And then that person would pay me back…I felt a little pressured to just buy it and am now taking my time to look at dresses at other stores. I don’t want to use the credit just because I have to, but definitely don’t want to waste money.

Any advice would be really helpful!

When is the best time to buy a dress as far as sales go? Is there a Black Friday Sale or Cyber Monday Sale in November? My budget is really low unfortunately and I am really trying to get a dress at David’s Bridal which is 859 in store and 599 online. Again, my budget is really low and I am a plus size bride.

@shionna16 I worked at David’s Bridal for about 9 months. We always had some type of sale or promotion going on for gowns or accessories. It depends on how the sales are going for the store. Also, if a previous promotion or sale did well, they’ll try it again soon. The DBCC (David’s Bridal Credit Card) promotions always did really well and got people to sign up for the cards because they gave 10% off of the gown, sometimes even without card approval, so they always had that promotion going on.

The two particular sales that come to mind are around Bridal Christmas (late December-March), and Valentine’s Day. They currently have a sale going on that even has Zac Posen dresses marked down, which is rare unless the style will be discontinued. I would say now is a great time to buy a dress on sale if you want a dress that’s not a brand new style. If it’s a David’s Bridal brand dress, it’ll most likely be on sale for $50-$200/$300 off.

Hope this helps!

This may have already been asked but how often does David’s Bridal do their $99 dollar sale?

janetsnakehole:  I have a specific dress I fell in love with. Do dresses go on sale after Jan 1st? How can I get this price to drop just a bit. And, how much should I budget for alterations? Not adding much to the dress… maybe breast padding…lol

janetsnakehole:  I was wondering what the schedules are to release new bridesmaid dresses?  My best friend wants a particular dress for her December wedding, and it’s avaliable in a short style right now but not a long…any chance they’ll release a long version and when do they typically release new bridesmaid styles?  Thank you!
