I was looking through a thread regarding the way that the South has been impacted by snow and ice in recent days. I found it sad that, once again, there seemed to be a line drawn between Southern Bees and Northern Bees.
Personally, I was born and raised in the North (go New England!) and I would never think of making a joke or starting a meme making fun of what is happening there. When it comes to weather, what is normal for us up North isn’t normal for them and vice versa (anyone remember how unprepared the North was during the Hurricanes? I do; those storms sucked big time).
I’d like to ask people to leave little messages of love and well-wishes to those people in the South who are struggling with the weather right now. At the end of the day, we’re all humans and we all deserve some sympathy and compassion.
To the Bees who live in Atlanta, and other parts of the Southern U.S., I hope you and your loved ones are all safe and sound.

I agree with this! I hope that everyone in the South is safe! I got a CNN alert early that said there were over 1,000 accidents due to the storm.

Very good point! I’m in the middle, not so Southern than I don’t know how to drive in the snow, but not so Northern that I won’t complain if it’s -20 for a week.
I had no idea how bad Atlanta fared with this weather. It breaks my heart that even today, over 24 hours after the storm, there are still people who don’t have a warm place to sleep and a bottle of water. How scary is that?!?

What a nice thread, thank you for starting it. 🙂

@LoggerHead91207: I’m ready for spring! Once its January I am always ready for warmer weather although its completely irrational to think that way!

I only like winter when I’m driving around looking at Christmas lights sipping on hot chocolate. After that, COME ON SPRING!

@LoggerHead91207: Thank you! lol you might be talking about my thread. I live in coastal NC so needless to say snow is NOT a common occurence here, and when we are expecting snow everyone freaks out because we simply aren’t prepared for it like other parts of the country. Just as the north “freaks out” over hurricanes. Well we have two inches of ICE and about 6 inches of snow which is crazy for us, and north, south, black, white, purple, green, big, small, no matter who you are…this weather sucks!!!! Not being able to go anywhere..(declared state of emergnecy and we have a curfew), and even the people that CAN drive in this mess SHOULDN’T because other people here don’t know how to drive in it, and you risk getting smashed into by someone.
The snow is beautiful…went out took my “selfies” in it, made some snow cream, now I’m just over it. I couldn’t imagine having it half the year!

I remember as a kid getting stranded like that, before most cars had front wheel drive, so I definitely understand it. It’s scary.
Yes, I’m totally ready for winter to be outta here. I’d like to go o outside and get some things done. Especially since we’ve had almost no snow and our bunny hill ski place won’t evenopen this year. I’m bored and getting cabin fever bad.

I’m not even in the USA ( I live in Australia) and I have been seeing on the news about the snow storms in the states – it looks crazy! I grew up in NZ so no stranger to cold weather but what some are going through looks really full on. Just remember to be a good samaritan and check on your neighbours – especially if they are elderly.
we have the opposite happening here, we just had a record heat wave, 4 days over 41 degrees celcius. That’s around 109 degrees Fahrenheit 🙁 waaay too hot!

@LoggerHead91207: Nope, I like winter even though it’s not my favourite season. I like a reasonable amount of snow. -40 sucks, shitty traffic sucks, slippery sidewalks suck, having to shovel large amount of snow sucks, sucks isn’t a strong enough word when people freeze to death. Nice winter days don’t suck.

I would say that this is true right now, wherever you live.

@mommytobee: Lol, yes that is exactly how I feel right now!

Stay safe ladies! Thinking of you over here on the West Coast. We would kill for a smidgen of rain. Unfotunate how it can’t be spread around a little, that some locations are just overwhelmed.

@mommytobee: Love this comic!
I live in Canada and winter can be brutal here. I’m really not a fan but I know there are worse places then where I live so I can tolterate it. Hopefully it will all be over soon. I agree it really not nice to make fun of people in the south for how they handle winter…they are jsut not use ot this waether and dont have the salt trucks and snow plows like we have up here so no wonder it was chaos! I hope everyone who is stranded gets home soon
