It could also be imprinted on an object in the house, in the room, or even just residual energy leftover from a previous time.  Whatever it is, it’s interesting, and definitely keep us posted!

@stardustintheeyes: I had a ghost friend when I was little. I don’t tell that often (FI doesn’t even know), because no one would understand or believe me.

Sometimes too, a place is not haunted, but spirits are just passing through.  Sometimes these spirits attach to you, sometimes they don’t.  Some of them are your guardians/guides and will always be with you, just more present at some times. Sounds like it wasn’t a terrifying experience for you and someone thought that he would comfort you.

My childhood home, as well as my place now have people passing through every now and again.  Fiance has never had experiences before he lived with me so he is a little freaked out.  He actually woke up one time around 3am (I forget the exact time) and said he felt something was in the room.  That same night, I had woken up at the same time and felt the same thing.  I didn’t know he was awake and vice versa.  I wasn’t going to tell him because I didn’t want to scare him, but we’ve had experiences like that a few times now.

If you are scared, talk to it like it is a real person.  Tell it that it is scaring you and you’d like to be left alone (I usually talk to them in my head, but out loud works too).  They will usually do so.  I always say a prayer in my head that G-d is protecting me and I imagine a sort of white light shield around me. That’s what I was taught long ago and it works.

I personally would smudge the house to remove negative energy and have the house “cleared” or blessed.

@BackyardLoveBird: I second the prayer (if you believe)… Supposedly God will protect you from all spirits if you try not to give them a second thought (as in, I really shouldn’t have clicked on this thread, but it was too tempting). Anyway, since I’ve been doing that, I have way less experiences, although last week I was waiting for class to start. I was sitting in an empty classroom reading the news, because I always get there way early, and I saw movement from the front of the class, and then it went thru the row behind me, and was just there. I ignored it and prayed, and it felt like it went away. But like some of you, I didn’t even mention this because I know no one else who believes in ghosts.
