I went to an outdoor fall wedding and the weather was perfect.  During the ceremony, when a breeze came by, the leaves fell so perfectly.  Nature’s confetti!

The 3-day Indian wedding I just came back from was EPIC!!

I was a bridesmaid, which made it that much more awesome to be part of the action.  I got the full experience which involved putting henna on my hands, seeing the groom mounted on a horse to get his bride, getting to wear the most beautiful sari, being part of a choreographed Indian dance to surprise the bride, experiencing a traditional night of festive dancing with almost 1,000 people as well as 600 for the reception itself… seeing the most beautiful centerpieces and reception hall (looked like David Tutera designed everything!).. endless food and alcohol, combined with insane DJ…. WOW

Good music!  I went to a wedding that had the most amazing band, and every single person was up and dancing. I didn’t even know anyone other than the couple and my SO, and i had the best time.

My two cousins’ weddings were awesome, as was my uncle’s.

Uncle’s wedding was in Ojai, California, next to this beautiful old stone house.  They were so obviously in love, and they were so happy to be married, that their joy was contagious.  We went to a reception venue later that was under these gorgeous tall trees and had long tables and lots of delicious wine.

My one cousin’s wedding was at Bryant Park in NYC.  Again, they were so happy to be married that it was contagious.  My cousin had slipped a disc in his back and his fiancee had Lyme disease (!!!!) but they still had so much fun and made it work.  The food was delicious and the dancing was fun.  They had a photobooth which was nice (and unique at the time, ha!).

Then my other cousin’s wedding was in Sonoma County.  They were married outside at this awesome and crazy park/art gallery place.  The reception was in a barn kind of thing.  There was plenty of food, the toasts were funny and appropriately timed, and there was a belly dancer which was really neat.  OH and they obviously wanted to be married.

What made these weddings awesome?  1. the bride and groom obviously loved each other and wanted to be married because of that, not because the bride wanted her SPECIAL DAY 2. the food was delicious

Food IMO is a big part of any wedding.  Be it just nibbles & cocktails, or cake & champagne.  The food must be good… and plentiful enough so that no one goes hungry or can’t find something they like.

Best Wedding I have ever been to was an Italian affair, where the food was never ending… mulit-course sit-down Dinner (Antipasto – Soup – Seafood – Pasta – Salad – Fish – Meat – Sorbet – Dessert… as I recall), and then a late night buffet around midnight (mostly desserts)

It was frickin’ amazing !!

@SpecialSundae:  Having an owl deliver rings sounds mighty impressive!! (and creative)

Thanks for starting this thread, by the way.  FI and I are still looking into potential venues, so this is very helpful to read!
