I have gotten a lot better but I’m still pretty picky about certain things. I will NOT eat tomatoes and will usually tell places that I’m allergic so they will be careful.

I am open to trying things and then if I hate it I won’t eat it again (sea food, mushrooms, onions) but I don’t think I’ve actually ever tried a tomato. They are nasty.

Blueberries.  I have tried them more than once, and have thrown up every time.  I tried putting them in a smoothie and I got really queasy but didn’t puke.  I want to like them because they’re really healthy, but I just can’t!

Raw oysters.  It’s like swallowing a loogie.  Yack.

I’ll eat pretty much anything else, even stuff I don’t like if it’s mixed in something.  I’m not picky at all.

Raw seafood of any type, including sushi, oysters, etc.

I love all seafood, except oysters. Fried oysters are good, but oysters on the half shell. No…I can’t. My Darling Husband would eat them every day if he could, but they look like giant boogers to me.

@harperlynn:   I actually have a list handy because if someone is offerring to make me a meal or go out to eat and they ask what foods I don’t like I have a lengthy one. I can usualy find something in most restaurants but it is still a hinderance most of the time. I hate that I don’t eat more new things but these are pretty much set in stone as gag material for me.

Foods I don’t eat

  • Beer
  • Broccoli with cheese on it (Can’t stand the smell)
  • Sauerkraut

  • Seafood (all kinds and versions: oysters, shrimp, lobster, fish, fishsticks, etc)
  • Mushrooms
  • Olives
  • Lamb, Veal or anything of the cute baby variety
  • Eggplant
  • Blue Cheese

  • Tomato Sauce (Think spagetti, pizza, lasagna…Getting better but will always prefer a blonde pasta/pizza anyday)

  • Ketchup (See above)
  • Mustard of any kind
  • Salad dressings…I will eat ranch if I have to… but no catalina, italian, etc.
  • Tofu

  • Liver

  • Cooked spinach or boiled asperagus…I think I’m ok with baked?

  • Coconut – shredded, the milk or the ‘fake’ taste

  • Water Chestnuts

  • Ginger (not even the candy – blech)

  • Green Tea – even as an ice cream flavor

  • Vinegar smell makes me gag (even on potato chips)

Are we going for ridiculous reasons here too, or regular ones? I mean, I won’t eat olives because they taste like a fart that died days ago and then was stored in a warm room without air flow … but that’s just normal 🙂

I won’t eat shellfish because it shits where it sleeps and that’s just not sanitary. Maybe not the best reason, but …………………

Bell peppers. They infect everything with their nasty taste/smell.

Raw meat, including seafood. I am a molecular microbiologist, so that explains that.

Eggs. If I can see chicken periods, I won’t eat it. I can have it in cakes, baked goods, etc., but if I catch even a gimpse or whiff of those things, I’m done.

@Birdee106:  I don’t like tomatoes either!  I tried a piece of raw tomato once, and I regretted my decision immensely.  Tomatoes just weird me out.

Horseradish. I cannot stand horseradish! I also don’t like wasabi or spicy mustard for the same reason.

Shrimp, scallops, oysters, mussels and clams are all no-thank-yous for me.

Also – sweetbreads. GROSS! Working in a fine dining restaurant I had ample exposure and tried them more than once, but just can’t get over it.

I don’t like sushi.  I’ve tried all kinds, several times.  I tried to like it!  But I don’t, yuck.  I’m also not fond of liver.
