Spinoff from the cruelest thing someone has said:
What’s the nicest thing someone has said to you? It could be someone you know or a stranger.
But something that really stuck with you and makes you smile even years later 😊.

You are the person that I want to talk to most in the world.

I am sure there have been nicer things said but this was recent and made me really happy. Recently Darling Husband and I were furniture shopping and I asked if we could check out crib prices since we just started ttc. And then over the holidays we saw his baby nephew and played with him.
Yesterday I sent him a message to be sure he’s still on board for ttc and making sure that we are still on the same page with trying. Because he’s been pretty tired lately so not a lot of BD but we are packing to move so I get it. Anyhow he said he’s definitely on the same page as I am. So I asked him what gave him the baby fever the cribs or the nephew and his response was “it’s you” and that just was so simple but so touching to me. I have always been afraid I would be a bad mom or something and that just made me so happy.

I was actually thinking about this the other day, like a weird/favourite compliment.
I was at a pop-up job with some people I didn’t really know, and I was tapping my fingers along to a song, and some guy (who turned out to be a drummer) said ‘you have really good rythym’. Something about finding the off beats and the quiet notes or something. I just always really liked that. Maybe not the ‘nicest’ but one of my favourite unique things.

Not to my face, but about me.
My sister teaches Kindergarten-2nd grade special education. She had a student last year that was kind of a handful (most of her kids have behavioral disorders vs. learning disorders). That student saw a picture of me on my sister’s desk and said, ‘IS THAT THE REAL-LIVE BELLE??” and my sister was like “no, that’s my sister” and she was like “OMG she’s beauuuutiful!”
I was kind of a late bloomer in terms of looks, and I think I’m like OK looking now but definitely not in the conventional, stereotypical “hot girl” way. I hated the way I looked in the photo mentioned above – so being compared to a Disney princess made my day. Still makes some of my days!

stephyhansen : i know this is kind of a weird one, lol. but, one night i was with a bunch of friends drinking outside and we were getting pretty tipsy, and someone started talking about what a post apocalyptic world would be like/survival/etc/ and someone randomly said, “who do you think would survive?” and literally like all 10 people, at the same time, said my name. hahaha. i love that.

Aside from Darling Husband, some of the loveliest things come from unlikely places. I had a friend once say (playing desert island, before he met his wife!) that I would be the person he would most like to be trapped on an island with. After the jeering stopped (everyone’s mind when to the same place!) he said “It’s not that! I just don’t think there’d ever be a dull moment. She would probably make starving to death kind of funny and positive”
I have carried that with me for years and it makes me strive to be sunnier and positive even more. I’m so quiet too but make the effort to be cheerful so I’m glad he noticed, it warms my heart.
Plus having random girls ask me where I got a certain outfit from (when they’re sober) is always an instant mood boost!

dodobee : I SO agree with you on that – girls should really compliment each other more!

stephyhansen : My niece is in first grade and they were talking about roll models one day. Their teacher said celebrities and sports heros sometimes aren’t always good to look up to because they have too many problems in their personal lives. The kids had to tell who a good role model was to them and my niece said me. She said the reason why was because I’m a “good person”. I thought that was super sweet.

I’m continuing with my theme here after posting in the cruel thread…
i currently have a student teacher who I had a student for two years. She wrote an essay about me in her college class and wanted me to read it, she wrote that I am a great teacher and that I inspired her to become a teacher and said she wants to be just like me. I sobbed reading her paper. Sometimes I question what I do and whether it is worth it but that validated everything for me.
brereuther : I loved your post! So adorable….And little kids tell the brutal truth. You ARE beautiful, like Belle. 😊

herrera2016 : Oh my, that brought a tear to my eye. So romantic. Good luck TTC!!
brereuther : We are all Disney Princesses in my world! So sweet.
mrshomemaker : That is the best, I have gotten that one before, except just one person said it. I think I would totally survive too!
dodobee : I find it amazing that his simple compliment changed your disposition! How many people you have been that shining light 🙂 I also try to make an effort to be pleasent. Also I love the phrase ‘warms my heart’.
brereuther : Got that right! I never go out of my way to find something, but if I genuinely find something I like that another woman is wearing, I will go out of my way to tell her. I’ve been that weirdo passing by on the sidewalk “oh! I love your jacket!” and walk away! haha.
Cheekie0077 : I’m getting my teaching credential right now, so this hits super close to home. I’m glad you have someone that inspires you after you have inspired them. I hope to have the same impact on my students someday.

stephyhansen : and you will. You will probably inspire more people than you will ever realize. Sounds terribly cliche but true. Good luck to you Bee!

Compliments don’t make much of an impression on me usually, so it’s hard to think of one. However, I had a professor compliment me on my work in a specific way, and I actually appreciated it. I also like when my SO compliments me about anything.

When I was really young I taught art classes at a private academy. I was only about 17 or 18 but I had a lot of experience with art and the owner had asked me to coach a class of kids who were about 15-16. I was a bit nervous because I was so close to their age, I wondered what they’d think about me teaching them.
After one class, a group of girls gathered round me and told me how great an artist I was. I shrugged it off because I was really embarrassed, and said “oh no, you need your eyes checked!” then one of them said to me, “We mean it, we want to be just like you… you’re PERFECT” and the others nodded in agreement. I was really taken aback and it was really cheesy but they were so sweet, it gave me a lot more confidence in my teaching ability and I tried really hard to encourage them. I still think about those girls and hope they’re doing well.

Other than the sweet things my Fiance tells me…
FI’s mom says I’m really smart and curious and have great memory and I should have been a researcher of some kind. I think she thinks I’m smarter than I really am lol
FI’s dad said there has never been anyone this good for his son.
Once during an interview… the interviewer told me that I come across as a very genuine person and I should never change that!
Sevetal patients told me that I’m their favourite nurse, 2 days ago one of them said that out off all the nurses he’s even met I seem to be the one that really trully cares about his well being. Omg 😭
