Vitana:  You’ll concede that good things have come out of socialist nations (“im not saying nothing good ever came out of a socialist nation” (your post on pg. 34)), but you also maintain that socialism yields “VASTLY bigger consequences than racism or sexism” (from your post on pg. 31), which leads you to oppose socialism while stating “I don’t really give two shits if theres a little bit of sexism here or a little bit of racism there” (pg. 31).

If socialism is worse than racism or sexism, but socialist nations have produced good things, would you care to tell us what good things racism and sexism have yielded?  If racism and sexism have not yielded good things, then why do you maintain that they are preferable to socialism, which has yielded good things, by your own admission?  Surely you are not going to suggest that racism and sexism are less systemic or ingrained than socialist institutions are/would be (ETA: and thus less dangerous or consequential), are you?

ct2015:  Id like to add to this; I actually would love a Kasich VP as well. In fact, Trump was NOT my first choice. It was Kasich, but unfortunuately he just isn’t able to stir the people the way Trump can and his campaign is falling flat on it’s face.

“If socialism is worse than racism or sexism, but socialist nations have produced good things, would you care to tell us what good things racism and sexism have yielded?”

Yes, the DOWN side to socialism and big government is still way way worse than racism or sexism, despite the fact that yes, some good things can come out of socialist countries (except in some very extreme examples, such as shariah law or the way women are treated in the middle east; now THAT is some sexist shit right there). You know, with stoning “adulterers” to death. Yeah, that’s sexist, and that’s bad. And there’s alot of racism in the US, but there’s also alot of racism around the world, not just here (you should hear what my korean inlaws have to say about black people. It isnt pretty). And no, it isnt just them.

Regardless, yes, id rather have a society with a bit of racism and a bit of sexism than a big socialist governement with big taxes and big welfare states and big programs and yada yada. i dunno why that’s soooo controversial.

Vitana:  What specific evidence do you offer that suggests that the downside to socialism, in its democratic socialism form (or even the not-really-socialism-at-all social democracy form), is worse than the historical legacy of racism and sexism or the current effects of racism and sexism in the USA and Europe?

You seem to be suggesting that only the racism and sexism that leads to the actual and immediate death of individuals (or that happens in “nonwestern” countries) is unaccpetable to you.

So, is the racism in the USA that manifests in the criminal justice system (which can lead to disproprortionate state-sanctioned murder of nonwhites via capital punishment) part of the acceptable amount of racism to you, despite the fact that this systemic racism deprives people of their full complement of liberties and opportunities for political participation?  Can you explain to me how this systemic denial of human liberty is worse than the outcomes of socialism?

You do explicitly admit that Donald Trump is “anti gay.”  Can you explain to me why a candidate who–by your admission–is bigoted against a certain part of the American population is acceptable in any way, given that the protection of rights-bearing, dignity-possessing individuals is central to the very project of the United States of America?

ETA: Also, “Yes, the DOWN side to socialism and big government is still way way worse than racism or sexism” is not actually an answer to my question, which was, “If socialism is worse than racism or sexism, but socialist nations have produced good things, would you care to tell us what good things racism and sexism have yielded?”  I’m still waiting to learn about those good things.

LIBERALS claim to be tolerance and acceptance, and yet holy shit, I am sickened and appalled at all of you who are attacking and demonizing and tearing apart people who support trump. They came on here and sincerely expressed their support and then BOOM out of nowhere, it’s like a panther jumping and ripping them to shreds…u should be ashamed of yourselves. You’re all disgusting hypocrites, seriously. You didnt see any of them asking to explain why you support hillary or bernie, so maybe you should live by your own standards and stop jumping down the throat of trump supporters? SMH.

flexigal:  I’ll ask you the question I asked someone else earlier: why should someone be allowed to say things like, “I don’t really give two shits if theres a little bit of sexism here or a little bit of racism there” without being asked to account for themselves?

Are you really saying that people should be allowed to make bigoted statements or express support for bigoted–by their admission–candidates or to make statements that are demonstrably incorrect without having to face questions or objections because they are sincere?

And you’re free to ask me to defend any claim that I’ve made.  I’d be happy to, I assure you.  So would anyone else on this thread who has expressed concern about the arguments made by the most recent Trump defender–I guarantee it.

And once again–providing evidence in opposition to something someone else has claimed or asking questions about arguments that don’t make sense =/= attacking.

flexigal:

1. No one has said their political affiliation, so you are assuming who we vote for or that we are liberal.

2. I will respond when people spew hateful, racist or bigoted comments and call them out for it.

3. You have no basis for your ridiculous claims.

4. This is an Internet forum and as I have said before, people can and will discuss topics.

Mrs.Sugabee2003:  nothing racist or bigoted was said, even remotely. Thats something youre making up in your head. I am SO tired of people assuming anyone who supports trump is hateful or racist. Actuially we are patriots and I love people of all colors and creeds.  [content moderated for name calling]

flexigal:  Haha, wow. Real mature, real mature.

Do you even know what a patriot is? Or a communist?

I also haven’t heard someone call another person a loser since middle school…

Mrs.Sugabee2003:  “I also haven’t heard someone call another person a loser since middle school…”

Trump LOVES to call people losers.

Anyway, I think flexigal is just entertaining herself on this thread. On this thread she is an American “patriot” on a previous trainwreck thread she started she was a Canadian mooching off of a boyfriend she was no longer interested in, to avoid having to pay her own way.

WestCoastV:  Good point! Sounds like someone can’t think for themself and has to repeat what others say and call people names when they get upset.

I remember the post you are talking about, looks like this bee has a whole lot of “made up stuff in her head.”

ETA: Ah, thread is closed. Bummer, some interesting discussions going on here.
