im not a fan of the shape but I like yours because it’s simple. Sometimes less is more❤️ A lot of stones can sometimes detract from the beauty of the solitaire. Yours is awesome😊

They have a dated reputation, but I think some of them are beautiful.

Personally I just don’t think the marquis I’ve seen would complement my fingers.

lol at all the “they’re so outdated” comments.  I’m over the moon about my marquise diamond! I love having a ring that’s so different from the standard round with a halo.

plantsarecute :  Wow stunner!!

Yeah this thread is outdated, from 5 years ago haha. Marquise was so in during 80s-90s and there’s always a backlash. Then princess was in during 90s-00s and now that’s going out and marquise is coming back. Marquise is one of the oldest cuts, regardless of trends it’s a classic. Just takes a little more boldness to pull off than the basic round! I love mine 🙂

I love them! The only reason I don’t have one for me engagement ring is because I’m not sure the setting but would be secure enough for me to wear every day.

Where as people say they look old fashioned and outdated. I think they look vintage and classy.

I like a marquise diamond but for me they look better in a bigger diamond. Same thing on asscher cut. Where round or cushion cut diamond I still like when they are smaller that could be why. Have you seen a marquis diamond sideways I really like that.

I love my marquise!! I upgraded to a new ring for our 20 year anniversary this year but kept my orginial marquise diamond – it may be “dated” but it should be! I got married in 1998! I love that I was able to keep my diamond. It may be small to one but it’s mine and I love it. I went with same center stone but from plain yellow gold band to 20 diamond total set in white gold. So modern but with same sentimental marquise diamond. I love it!

I feel the same way about marquise that I do about princess cut. I think with a more modern setting they don’t look dated but it is the sharpness of the corners that bother me. I can appreciate a beautiful ring no matter the shape, but personally for me I do not like either shape. Ovals are my favorite, but I do not like when they are in 6-prong setting because it gives them a marquise look.
