I’m not sure why I don’t like them, but they’re just not something I’m drawn to. The points seem harsh to me.

I love marquise diamonds.

I don’t think people hate it,  they are just not confident enough to wear it.

I regularly get compliments on my ring so it’s like there is some kind of fascination more than hate about the shape.

linnylou_88 :  I think if you like it you should go for it. I don’t understand the concern about something looking dated. It’s different to other rings and if anything stands out amongst others.

I personally love marquis cuts.  Especially the in more modern settings posted here!  They’re beautiful!  But I agree that the setting is everything.  I guess I’m an “older” bee because my wedding set from my first marriage looks very dated but I loved it because of what it represented at the time.  I still have the stone so one day I’ll put it in a beautiful setting.

I love fatter marquise cuts. For me they look timeless…. Skinnier ones on the other hand wouldn’t reflect as much light and would feel so comfortable if it was too long. It all depends on the proportions to me.

orion1978 :  you’re definitely right about that! I think people are mistaking hate for not having to confidence to rock one. I am 26 years old and I have a marquise. I AM IN LOVE and I do not regret wanting one. My FH had a lot of options I loved–of all shapes–to choose from, and him choosing my marquise was just a testament to how unique and beautiful it is.

mrscfc :  Looove your ring. I am a marquise girl myself. I like what pp said and it makes me laugh because growing up all my friends would say stuff like “I love your style I just couldn’t pull it off” I still get the same thing about my emerald green streaks in my hair. I think you have to be ok with standing out. Someone on page one (6 years ago) said that they look small. Which is funny because they actually face up bigger than most other cuts. Sooooo :-/ lol

I love them! I have a marquise stone in a heirloom, I think it might be a ruby or some other red stone, I am not sure at all! But it is lovely! I also love marquise diamonds! I think they look amazing and feminine!

I love them!!! I’m a big fan of pears, princess and emerald cuts too, along with the classic rounds!!!

I like marquise cut stones- but they are not my favoirte

i do agree that they are often not cut wide enough, which looses the face up value of the sixlze.of the stone.. I find elongated stones more flattering than symeyrical ones but personally cant stand harshly square or step cuts

In order of most to least liked

Oval, elongated cushion, pear, radiant, marquise, trillion, marquise,  round, heart [depending] asher, emerald, princess.
