This thread is so interesting, reading everyone’s different perspectives of how they got where they are! I’m a 26 yo lawyer in a big city making 170k. The work is mind-crushing, and the hours are terrible, though. I hear tales of six figure lawyer jobs that actually allow you to be something other than a worker drone, but I’m not sure if they exist or with my student loans (~100k) if I could take one…

I’m 24, a full-time nanny making $50K a year. It will be VERY sad to see it go when I start grad school in a few years..

I’m 26 and I make $68k a year as an IT strategy manager. But my last day is Friday and I’m going back to school for four years! I’m terrified, but I realized that at my current job, they could pay me 50k more per year, and I still didn’t want to do it. It was a pretty freeing moment. So goodbye salary (internal panic ensues…)

23 years old, no academic education past highschool, Executive Assistant, $45K to start. Where I live this is extreamly rare to get paid this high for no post education.

Going back to school to school in September (night school) to Join the Police Department. $60K to start, $5K raise per year after that until your at your highest rank over $100K per year.

I’m 29, work as a university administrator, and make $40k/year in an entry level job in my field. I’d probably be making more if I didn’t switch tracks and go back to grad school at 27. I hope in a year or two to have enough experience to become a supervisor and hopefully, make 10K more. The benefits of working at a university are pretty nice, though.

I’m 28 soon to be 29, fresh out of residency and will be starting a position as a physician at $160k. This is low for my field, and also keeping in mind that I am a quarter of a million dollars in debt from medical school (daunting to pay back)! When I was in residency though for the past 3 years I made less than minimum wage.

    I am 25, and I make 55k as a Technical Writer. (I began at 45k at age 22, so I’ve seen a little growth!)

My Boyfriend or Best Friend works at the same company as me! He is 29 and makes 65k as a Supervisor (not MY Supervisor though, in case you were wondering)

That being said, we are 99.9% debt free (I owe $2k more on my car, which will be paid off before the end of the year! – he is 100% debt free)
