In response to the last thread, I couldn’t think of anything I buy generic for. However, there is one product that I truly think is better than any brand I’ve ever had (not that generics aren’t brands, even “no name” is a brand…you know what I’m getting at!).
PC Decadent cookies are the best store bought chocolate chip cookies on the planet. Period. I dare you to try them! I didn’t immediately think of this because I am trying to lose weight so I don’t often buy cookies…given I’d eat them all.
Any generics that you like better than the brand (and not just the price point, the taste)? On the flip side, what is the worst generic you’ve ever had? For me, that’s easy. Costco brand pop is all kinds of terrible. Kirkland Coke? I’d rather drink sewage.
How about you?

@MrsPanda99: My SO & I both like Walmart’s generic pancake mix over aunt jemima’s or pretty much any other pancake mix. couldn’t tell you why! Actually, we prefer the generic syrup too lol At least over MANY other syrups. Not all though.

@MrsPanda99: Pretty much anything Publix brand is as good as or better than regular brand. Except dishwasher detergent.

Safeway cheddar cheese! I don’t like Kraft or Black diamond or any other brand.

On the rare occasions that I eat chips, I usually get generic ones. Most of them seem to taste less salty and more flavorful. The only name brand chips that I buy are middlesworth.

The knockoff Captain Crunch with Crunchberries (the kind that comes in a bag, with the kangaroo) is SO much better than the actual stuff made by Captain Crunch!

Compliments peanut butter (from Sobeys)! Way more natural tasting/less sweet than Kraft.

@MrsPanda99: I disagree about the cookies. I prefer the ones that are brand name (I don’t remember what they are!) with the white and chocolate chips. Similar to the PC ones, but the extra flavours make them a bit better.
Darling Husband insists on having the PC white cheddar mac & cheese. I bought the Target brand onetime and he didn’t like it.
The PC lime & mango salsa is pretty awesome, I dunno if there’s a brand name equivalent. Oh ditto for their white cheddar cheese! Mmmmm.

@AB Bride: But PC Decadent cookies are SO GOOD! I haven’t tried any white chocolate/milk chocolate chip cookies though. That does sound better but I’d have to taste it to believe it 😛
Actually, PC is pretty good in general. They make a lot of yummy appetizers and desserts. They aren’t exactly cheap compared to other generics though.

@MrsPanda99: It’s the same brand that PC based their chocolate chip cookies after. Chips ahoy maybe? If it wasn’t for the chocolate chip types , I would agree as the PC ones have more chocolate chips.

@MrsPanda99: I’ll buy anything by PC and feel fine about it.
I really love PC Black Label dark hot chocolate. It’s literally cocoa and dark chocolate shavings. It’s SO decadent, yum! It’s a proper cup of hot cocoa, and better than any cafe, let alone hot chocolate packets.

Stop and Shop Buffalo sauce is better than Frank’s!

Walmart sells a non-branded diet cola. It’s not Sam’s brand. It literally just says diet cola on the label. It’s $1.18 for a 6-pack, and I actually like it better than any other diet cola besides Coke Zero.
I buy generic for most everything.

Great Value brand pie crusts are the way to go. We fill them with chopped chicken, California blend veggies, and cheese. We call it Space Chicken. Its out of this world.
