    My husband and his best man are both in the service (different branches) and the other two groomsmen were not. So we had two suits that were the same, and two different military uniforms. It looked fine! I stressed out about it but I think they’ll look dashing no matter what.

    @leecy87:  I think he did if I do say so myself! 🙂

    I think having mismatched suits/tuxes is just like having mismatched bridesmaids’ dresses: either have them be the same, or different enough that you’re not trying to get as close to the same as you can without them being the same. You know? If they’re too similar it will just look awkward IMO.

    @leecy87:  my groom will be in a customized tux (we firgured we purchase one for him, it’s always good to have at least 1 formal wear in the closet..I have several…he needs one). the grooms men just renting from Moores…possibly the vera wang …and I think red vests.

    My Fiance will be wearing a different suit from his best man. Fiance is getting a suit made – but it will just be a lounge suit, and he will be able to wear it again after the wedding. His suit will be in navy and BM’s suit will be in grey. They’ll probably wear the same colour shirt, but beyond that I don’t particularly care that they don’t look the same.

    As for you, if your Fiance is getting a suit made I would suggest having it made in a colour that he could use for work (probably grey, maybe navy or black), to make it worth the expense of having one made – and let’s face it, he’ll probably be grateful to have a suit that fits him perfectly.

    Then if you’re going with lounge suits, I think it’s worth seeing if the groomsmen could wear what they already have – because at least then the suits will fit them properly (which can be a problem with hire tuxedos). I would suggest asking the groomsmen if they have black lounge suits of their own in the same style. I suggest this because it’s easier to match black, whereas if you ask for grey, they’ll most likely have different shades.

    Of course you can hire lounge suits as well, but it’s possible that you don’t have to. If you do though, as the PP said, I would go for the same style but a colour that is obviously different, so it looks like you’ve done it on purpose rather than made a mistake.

    @leecy87:

     Obviously those are examples with black and grey. I personally think those are the best colours to do “mismatching” with, as they are shades of each other.
