Nice to meet you :)! I am an expat in Sydney! Myself and SO moved here last April for his work and i have to say i still havent settlled, nor met many people to call my own friends. We mostly hang out with FI’s friends and their girlfriends, moving here has definitely made us closer as a couple though πŸ™‚ I am sooo homesick! I still speak to my girlfriends from home everyday but it’s just not the same. I go home next wednesday though for a few weeks and I am so excited. Fiance loves it here, and has a good job (he worked in the UK company for 4 years and they all love him) It’s hard as I would like to move back home next year, whereas he would happily stay.. but we have agreed to comprimise and have another year or so here, then go home to plan our wedding and buy a house.. i still feel very guilty for making him leave Sydney when he likes it so much.. but then again I cant be unhappy forever! Its tricky πŸ™

Fiance and I have been together for 5 years and 8 months, we met in the UK where we are both from and got engaged in April in Hawaii πŸ™‚ He’s 32 and I 25. My hobbies include mostly going to the gym. I am pretty easy going, and I love going on holiday! I work full time, in an accounting company role which ends in December and I cant wait! This is definitely not the job for me!

Hello!

I live in Brisbane, my husband and I have been together for 6.5 years and will be celebrating our one year wedding anniversary in November.

I am a personal assistant at a hospital and I love it, however my career goal is to become a midwife. We have friends as a couple and I have probably four close friends however I wouldn’t mind meeting new people, I am a bit of a social butterfly so am always up for anything. I do enjoy boot camp however have not been back since just before our wedding! I did burlesque for a term and loved it but just haven’t been motivated enough to get back into it. I enjoy outdoor activities, camping, coffee  catch ups and going out for dinner. I DO NOT take myself to seriously so am always having a laugh at my own expense.

Sukii:  WOW, you sound exactly like me! I ditched every friend I had when I left High School, I met a few precious gems thereafter through other avenues who I have managed to hold on to πŸ™‚ I would say I have 5 close female friends, 1 of whom is my sister. My biggest issue in making friends over the last few years has been the fact that at 29, most of the people I go to uni with are A LOT younger than me and I sometimes feel like I am an old soul and I just don’t fit in with them. Or, some of the awesome ladies I met at uni earlier this year happen to live in Perth…. I live in Melbourne.

I am not yet engaged but it is coming in the next few months (6months if I am unlucky) lol, but I have just realised that I will be literally the ONLY ONE in my group of friends who is looking to marry in the next 18-24 months. It would be really nice to have some local(ish) Bees to vent to and chat to or perhaps even have coffee with to talk weddings with!

Due to my uni schedule I am very time poor and will be until the end of November (I seriously cannot wait!). But when I have spare time I like to satisfy my creative side by baking, cake decoating, DIY refurbing of funiture and decor etc, I like to paint. I love anything to do with true crime, serial killers, psychology etc. I love nature and love going on road trips or going overseas to new places. My SO and I like to get away camping at least a few times a year. We both love our coffee and are always trying new types of beans! I’m a bit of a crazy cat lady… I don’t think I act my age, I can be pretty silly and crazy at times too I should probably mention my age lol, I turned 29 in May. My SO is 31 in November. He is an 8th generation Aussie and I am a 1st generation Aussie! My heritage is British and Ukrainian.

PorcelainBelle:  You sound like me! I am 24 but I always forget how young I am I swear I should be atleast 28. Most of my friends are a few years older than me, some being over 35. My best friend though is my age which is nice :).

I love crime, serial killers etc I have really wanted to do a tour of Boggo Road Gaol (A very scary and well known gaol that held some hardcore criminals) here in Brisbane which is meant to be haunted but i cannot find anyone to go with! If only you lived in Brisbane or I lived in Melbourne.

I hope your engagement comes soon!

Sukii:  I hear you! I’m 27 and moved from west melbourne to south east melbourne and only kept 3 friends from highschool who I catch up with a few times a year (its hard because they are all so busy and we can’t do hey im bored lets hang out- its got to be planned which sucks!) my Fiance is from country vic and had heaps of friends in melb but they have all moved back home now they have graduated! I work as a nanny so dont have any work friends and studied online so no uni friends! So atm it’s mostly just the two of us which is great, I love my Fiance, but I wish we had a group of friends nearby to have BBQs with and someone to go shopping with!!

Rubyrain88:  Ugh, I hear ya, when it comes to catch ups with friends I find it near impossible thanks to conflicting schedules, and a lot of my friends live at least an hours drive away. It drives me nuts, I have to try to plan catch ups like 6 months in advance… I used to live in Country vic (about 1.5hours from Melb), but I am now living in the outer eastern suburbs.

Do you prefer the western suburbs or the SE suburbs? πŸ™‚

PorcelainBelle:  it really sucks how far in advance you have to book catch ups!

Do you like the outer eastern?

Umm, hard question! I don’t take major freeways to get to work from where I am now so traffic is waay better (if i had to use the Monash I would say they are about the same as the westgate!)

I like the WS for ease of going to Geelong and the great ocean road- but now I’m near phillip island and mornington so thats good too.

I looove where I am now, but all my friends stayed in my home suburb so I miss not being near them all but one day I’m sure I’ll find some friends who are closer (fingers crossed!!)

Hello!

I’m 27 and weirdly I was thinking about this topic over the weekend! I was at Splendour in the Grass with a group of friends and I was discussing with one of them who my bridesmaids would be if I ever get married. I told her it would be my sisters (I have two) she seemed a bit taken aback and said she thought I should have at least one “friend” in the bridal party. It made me realise that while I have friends, I don’t have a best friend. I can go months without talking to the girls I consider my closest friends! It made me feel a little weird, but ultimately I can accept that thats just who I am, and I’m happy!

I’m currently living in Port Macquarie (Mid North Coast NSW) having moved here recently as my partner has to move around alot for work. Its near on impossible to meet new people in towns like this! I am the only girl in my workplace, the rest are men who are all at least 10years older than me! All of our friends are in Sydney or Wollongong so we’ve (my partner and I) had to make a concerted effort to nurture and maintain those friendships (like going to splendour in the grass!) its tough not having people I can hang out with on weekends etc! I look forward to chatting to you ladies on here πŸ™‚
