Another Bee just asked about the best nail polish. Her post inspired me to ask about the best GEL polish for at-home kits. I have the Red Carpet Gel Manicure system from Ulta. I like it and I’m getting better at applying it. My nails have peeled at the ends my entire life so regular nail polish chips after 1 day. A professional gel manicure does not chip at the ends until about 10-12 days. I’ve been able to make the at-home gel polish go about 5-6 days before chipping/peeling at the ends. I’ve tried really hard to paint the polish, etc. over the free edge and also to not let anything touch the skin. That helps, but I’m wondering if there is a better brand of polish, etc. that I can use to make the gel last longer. Thanks ladies!

I LOVE OPI gel color polish. I’ve had it last longer than 3 weeks on my toes, and that’s with daily hot baths/showers. On my fingernails It can last about 10-14 days.
The only thing about the gel polish to make sure it lasts a long time is to properly apply it. By that I mean not getting any on cuticals or skin, capping the ends of the nails, and making the base and top coats not too thick.

I’ve been painting my own nails for more than 20 years so I have a pretty steady hand. But it is SO hard to get everything over the ends and avoid the skin when I’m doing my non-dominant hand. Any tips would be appreciated but I’m assuming I just need more practice.

I have the Mally kit, and I love the gel polish! It usually stays for about 7-10 days on my nails

The Jamberry TruShine Kit is amazing! Easily get 10-12 days.
