there was a post a couple of months ago about a bee and her paranormal activity. there were some questions not about her actual house being haunted, but whether or not the tangible items in her house could be haunted:
this is a semi-spinoff, but i want to know what everyone thinks about a newer building (with new, factory-made furniture) being able to be “haunted.”
the place in question is an assisted living home i worked at for four years throughout college. it was built in 2004, so it was a very nice building and not creepy at all. the area it was built on was a vacant field, but it used to have a dairy farm on it years ago. well one summer i decided to switch to the midnight shift because i got extra pay. i had never experienced anything paranormal or creepy during the day, so i wasn’t worried about it at all. i worked on the upstairs floor with one other girl. there are twenty rooms on the floor, but usually there were at least four or five rooms that were empty at a time due to residents passing away or moving. there was a lot of down time on the midnight shift, so the two of us aides would often sit in the common room and fold laundry, read books, or play games on our phones.
the first time i got freaked out was a couple weeks after i started working midnights. there are two pull-cords in every residents room; one in the bathroom and one in the bedroom. if a resident pulled their cord for assistance, it would set off an alarm down the hallway, and a small red light would go off inside of their bedroom that you would have to reset to green in order for it to work again. well it was about 3am and we were both sitting there talking, when an alarm went off. we went to check what room number it was, and it was one of the empty rooms. we both went to the room to check it out, and the red light was blinking. the girl i was working with had been on midnights for a while, and said that happened frequently. in the few months that i stayed on that shift i literally cannot count how many times an alarm would go off and it would be from an empty room. for all you skeptics- NONE of the residents in that hall are able to get out of bed without assistance. and every time this happened, we would check in on everybody just in case and they were always all sleeping. there were three other workers downstairs, but we always asked them if they were playing a prank on us and they swore they weren’t. they were not the joking-type and you have to put in a code to get upstairs that makes a beeping sound throughout the building, and we never heard it go off.
other strange things were televisions that came on ALL the time in the middle of the night, on full volume. then there were “the kids.” there was one woman who pulled her alarm at least once a week saying that there was a little boy and a girl in her room fighting. she also always said they kept turning her light on. she was extremely frail and is extremely afraid of falling, so i know for a fact she would not get out of her bed by herself. we always turned all her lights off when she went to bed, but at least once a week she would pull her cord and we would go into her room and her light would be back on. mind you, this woman did not have any type of dementia. the minds of every single resident that lived on that floor was 100% there. i honestly cannot count how many other residents said they saw children too. we had multiple reports of seeing kids with a red ball, kids jumping on the foot of beds, and kids running down the halls at night.
i was a little freaked out by the alarms and tvs and lights, but i never believed that any of the residents had seen children. one night, it was completely silent, no televisions on and no visitors there. i was walking down the hallway to the kitchen when i heard as clear as day, a little kid laughing. i get goosebumps when i think about this. it was probably the creepiest thing that has ever happened to me.
if i were alone when i experienced these things, i may have dismissed it as my imagination or something. but the fact that there was always another person that experienced these things with me makes it that much more real. there are TONS of other stories from other workers, but i just described things that i experienced personally. while there have been many elderly people that have passed away in this building, there has never been any children. what do you guys think?
*something else i will add just because i think it’s creepy:* i was present for the passing of a couple of the residents that lived at the home. the very first man that i saw pass away was nice elderly man named david. he was only there for a couple of months though, so unfortunately i didn’t get to know him too well. well my grandpa passed away about six years before i even started working there. i went to visit his gravesite one day, and i noticed that there was a new stone put in that literally backs right up to his. i live in a small town so i checked it out to see if it was someone i knew. out of all the cemeteries in the world, out of all the plots in that specific cemetery.. you will never guess whose grave it was! i get goosebumps every time i go there now!
