I have no idea… But does the notion that maybe they can’t ever make you paranoid that YOU smell?

The OP from the original thread and I had an extended conversation about BO a while back, lol.  As I get closer to 30, and my sister warned me about this, my BO has gotten funkier.  Hormones or something. To that end, I’ve had more than one occasion where I had the unfortunate realization that my deodorant was either no longer working with my body chemistry, or I hadn’t applied enough.

I can definitely smell it, but I’d be willing to bet that at least one person noticed it before I did.  I’m a compulsive pit-checker these days.   AND, what do I tell my boss?  “I need to leave this meeting for 30 minutes so I can go buy new deodorant?”  I feel like that makes a worse impression than one stinky day 🙁

Funny story.  During this weird hormonal change period that I had, I also lived very close to a mexican food restaurant.  Good food.  I was at a stoplight next to it one morning and had my window open.  I smelled something a little funky, and being the paranoid freak that this issue turned me into, I turned around to change shirts and reapply deo.

When I got home, I smelled and smelled and all I could smell was fresh & clean.  Turns out it was the restaurant- sauteeing onions or something.  Apparently my BO smells like mexican food in the morning. *shrug*

@bells219:  I have done almost the EXACT same thing except it was a Cracker Barrel breakfast.  I made a point of going back the hotel and changing ’cause I was convinced I’d worn a dirty shirt.  Got home and I was fine!  The breakfast was great but who knows what smelled like BO!

Also my hormones have been crazy over the past year and I totally feel like a stinky teenager.  Any morning I wake up with Fiance I almost want to apologize as I run to the shower. Embarassed

Secret is hands down the most effective, but if I use it for too long, it gives me bumps on my pits 🙁  So Degree for women + the Degree Clinical at night seems to do the job.

I seriously carry around a travel size in my backpack, my car, my purse, and I’ve even hidden one in FI’s car.  Sometimes you gotta reapply.

@bookworm88:  Lol, if I shower at night, I have to reapply deodorant just so that I won’t have that exact situation in the morning.

Once I heard, and I have no idea where (probably a tv show) that if you smell your BO, others have been smelling it for two days! I’m sure I heard it from a tv show and that it’s not true but this thread reminded me of it.

Sometimes I smell my own and I HOPE no one else can smell it. It’s rare that I smell it though since I switched deodorants

I’m not sure if I can or can’t, which makes me constantly worried that I can’t and that everyone thinks I stink but they’re too polite to say anything. Yes, these are the things I worry about instead of being a productive human. 😛

Oof, some people must not be able to, but I really hate when I’m stinky! However, now that it’s finals weeks, I definitely spend my off days in my PJs and shower every other day (study study study!). However, I’m well aware that I’m ripe, and I don’t leave the house. LOL.

Weird Q, but related- can you smell when you’re sick? I can definitely tell I’m getting sick because I smell this odd, almost spicy smell. And I can smell it on other people, too, the day or two before they get a bad cold/the flu/sinus infection. Is this a thing or am I nutso?? Hahha.

Some people just are immune to it if you smell if for awhile until you are introduced to a new smell or reintroduced to the same smell.

@indibee:  I can smell sick when it involves a sinus infection, but no other times.  Kind of cool that you can…

I swear some people must not be able to smell it!

I play volleyball with a guy that smells so bad that I sometimes gag and have to breath through my shirt, even if he is on the opposite side of the net. Seriously it is THAT bad. The worst part about it all is that he comes to practice and games smelling that bad already. I can’t imagine working with him in an office all day long smelling like that, it is just overwhelming.
