Between food ($9 per bag – lasts about 3 weeks – roughly $156), kitty litter ($10 per 20lb box – lasts 2 weeks – roughly $260), grooming (between $40-$75 (depends on what we do) – twice per year – $150), vet (maybe $100 for the whole year) & toys/treats ($20-$30) we spend roughly $700 per year. But he’s totally worth it!

i think we spend about $150 per month for food and litter for two cats.
They only eat Wellness brand canned food in the chicken variety. We try to drive out to the local pet store to pick up cases and it comes out to $1.25 per can. If we pick it up from other pet stores or at Whole Foods, it’s $1.69 per can. They eat two cans per day between the two of them. It would be more like two can per cat per day if we didn’t supplement with dry food. Their dry food runs about $40 per bag and last prob about 2 months (that’s a guess). We feed Wellness CORE dry food but since getting the new cat, we can only get her to eat the Wellness CORE if we mix it with Purina Pro Plan (which is about $21 for the smaller bag). We don’t like to feed them the Purina but she won’t touch Wellness or any of the other grain-free natural foods we buy.
They’re also very particular about their litter. We buy a specific brand of clumping litter but it has to be layered with pine litter on top.
Vet costs are pretty cheap (except for the time we had to take our poor girl to the vet 5x in two weeks including an emergency vet visit on a Sunday).

I spoil the crap out of my two girls. They get indoor cat food, cat-grass grown for them to munch on, a litter box, a new addition to their cat tower, treats, kitty birthday cakes, christmas presents, new sparkly collars. I don’t have children, so I spoil them 🙂 I would say about 1500 a year.
