I noticed that someone posted recently about a cover up for her December wedding. I am getting married in November in Maine. Exactly one year from today, to be exact. And today we woke up with snow on the ground and bitter cold.
My question is – did any of you or are any of you planning to wear a shawl or a stole? Do people wear those anymore? I considered a cute cardigan, but I just don’t think that will be enough. I found these two items on Etsy that I really like, but I’m afraid they’ll look dated. My dress is Land by Pronovias. It’s a mermaid gown with tulle and and lace appliques. It has a sweetheart neckline with lace applique straps. Would either of these work? I do NOT like fur and I don’t like shrugs. Am I being too picky?

NovemBride1415: Im getting married next month and ordered this cardigan from BHLDN 🙂 sorry if the picture is huge! I was originally going to order a stole before i found this. The first stole might be too much with your dress, but i like the second one!

I’m getting married in Finland this coming January, and it can be pretty damn cold here that time of year. If it’s not too cold, I’ll be fine in my wool cape, plus the cardigan and shawl I’ve knitted for the occasion.

NovemBride1415: I think the first wrap from Etsy is perfect with your dress!

NovemBride1415: I wanted to find something like you posted- but never did that I liked.
My wedding was in November- it was cold and rainy.
I ended up with a tulle wrap (more for looks than warmth)- but it didn’t matter. I was warm enough, even being outside for quite a while for pics/going out after the ceremony. My dress was lightweight- but still provded enough warmth, on top of the excitment for the day that I really didn’t need anything else (I did bring a black pashima with in case though)

NovemBride1415: I really like the first one you provided a picture of, it’s beautiful!
I went to a wedding in Canada last December, and the pride had a stole that she wore for pictures outside (it was -36 that night, she definitely needed a parka but just wore the stole – what brides do for their pictures. we’re a crazy bunch).
