I’ve heard a lot of debate over whether or not to do a first look. I’ve never heard anyone say they regretted a first look, but what I want to know is – do you think having a first look affected your grooms reaction when he saw you walk down the aisle?
If you did a first look, show me your grooms face when he saw you walking down the aisle!

Mine was beaming – but we both pretty much just grinned like idiots through the whole thing, and I’m sure he would have whether or not we had done a first look (we did).

I don’t think it changed DH’s reaction
He was smiling like an idiot (I was too) and I’m pretty sure he would have looked the same even if he hadn’t seen me in the morning.

@iheartcake: I’m not doing a first look because I am really looking forward to that special moment being at the church. It’s just how I imagine it. I don’t see how the first look could not alter the ceremony reaction – he’s already seen you in your dress so it’s automatically not a surprise. Not trying to hate on them or anything, just stating what I imagine would happen in my situation.

We did a first look and he still fought hard to keep from tearing up. I (and he) were both shocked by the emotion. I didn’t think of him as a crier/tearer and he certainly didnt think he was either. I don’t think the reaction is from seeing how we look, but just knowing you are coming toward him to become his wife.

I don’t have a picture of it because a picture wouldn’t show it, really… we did a first look and he did get a little bit misty eyed then, but was mostly smiling! I could tell it helped calm his nerves a lot.
When I was walking up the aisle, his mouth was quivering so bad!!! He alternated between smiling and just quivering, he was trying SO hard not to cry lol.

@pinkshoes: That’s what I was thinking, that the moment is a, ‘wow, it’s finally here/it’s really happening’ moment. That is so sweet that he teared up, I love when the men you wouldn’t expect to get that emotional do!

We didn’t do a first look. We did more of a, “Here I am. Are you ready to take pictures?” The walk down the aisle was still special and seeing each other and taking pictures before didn’t seem take away from it.

Haha…I don’t remember if he teared up or not (we did a first look), guess I’d have to go back and look at the pictures. But I definitely did!

Mr. Lk does not show his emotions much. Happy or sad, his face stays practically the same. So as much as I wanted him to show that, it just didn’t happen at either the first look or the aisle walk. He is who he is.
