I was just reading another bee’s post about weird things going on in her house. Some of the replies to the post suggested getting the house Blessed or Cleansed.
When Fiance and I move into his condo we’re going to get it blessed (it’s been a rental since 2007, Fiance hasn’t lived in it yet) Its a really common thing to do in his culture (Greek) and I think its a great idea!
Just wondering if anyone else has gotten (or will get) their home Blessed/Cleansed before you move(d) in?
Or – Did you have to get a Cleansing or Blessing done after you moved in because weird things were going on?

@Stephville: I’ve never heard of this so I wouldn’t do it.

No. I don’t believe in that stuff.

@Stephville: Unrelated to the topic, but I like your avatar!

I’d do it if I liked the church and the priest that would do it. We’ve had previous houses blessed. Growing up we had priests over our house all the time for dinner, so one of them blessing it when they came was no big deal.

Our house was blessed before we moved in … but that was because the last guy who lived in it killed himself. wamp womp.
I don’t really believe in that stuff, but I’m not gonna lie — the first night sleeping in our house, I was totally on the lookout for ghosts.

@MsW-to-MrsM: Thank you! Golden Girls=BEST.SHOW.EVER.
@iarebridezilla: Even if I wasn’t into the idea of getting my house blessed, if I was in your situation, I would totally get my place blessed too! Forget the first night, I’d be on the look out for ghosts for months! lol

@Stephville: It was the management company that had the house blessed, not us … which was probably a good thing since I know we never would have done it! Luckily I figure as far as ghosts go, a suicide ghost would be pretty benign, right? I mean, a hell of a lot better than, say, the murdered family/children ghosts that are always making trouble in every horror movie ever. At least a suicide ghost isn’t out for vengeance. Our ghost just pops our freezer open every so often, which is kind of a dick move but I guess I shouldn’t complain.

@Stephville: It’s a thing in Catholicism, so I’ll be doing it whenever Fiance and I move in. We also get new vehicles blessed.

Mother-In-Law brings it up. She has holy water that has mold in it. I don’t care either way, as long as the moldy water can be cleaned up after. She hasn’t been to our house though, and Father-In-Law either forgot to bring it or if it did he didn’t do it. Darling Husband doesn’t want it done.

My aunt gave me holy water 5 years ago. I’ve blessed every apartment Fiance and I have lived in, plus both our cars.
