Always. My Mom sent me an email a few years ago about people waiting at gas stations until someone went inside and they’d jump in the back seat and rob/rape/kill people.
Obviously, this email was created to scare the crap out of me, so I religiously lock my doors when I go to get gas.

It looks like I am in the minority here. As a few other people stated as soon as I get out of my car it is locked and I always drive with the car doors locked. I am also anal about making sure I have my keys in my hand so that I cannot lock them in the car.

Not if I’m standing right there, but if I go inside, yes.

Not if I’m just pumping… if I need to get anything inside the station, or using it as a pee break during a road trip.. I pull my car up to a parking spot and lock it. So no. Not when I’m pumping my gas b/c I’m right there. Plus I think my gas cover locks up if my doors are locked

I always always check my back seat before I go for my door.
I drive with my doors locked, too, and when I get gas I just unlock my driver side door. My gas tank is on the passenger side but depending on the gas station I just keep an eye on my surroundings. If I’m running into the gas station for some reason it depends on which gas station I’m at. Some of the neighborhoods I fill up in are considered safer than others. I also don’t have a key fob and my driver door is locked so to lock all of my doors I have to have my driver door closed and to unlock I have to unlock my passenger door and then crawl through to unlock the rest. It’s super annoying.

I don’t lock unless I’m going inside for something

I sometimes lock the doors, mostly if I leave my purse in my car instead of bringing it with me or if I need to go inside to pay.

Maybe it’s something about growing up in the city, but I lock them even when I’m paying at the pump which is 99% of the time. Soemtimes I lock them all but the drivers door since my gas tank is on the driver’s side. But either way, I don’t need anyone coming up on the other side of the car and sneaking in or snatching up my purse.

Sometimes – depends where I’m filling up and maybe what time of day it is. And also if there are scary looking people around me, haha.

I voted no but I would defintely lock them if I was going to pay inside. Usually I’m standing right there with the keys in my pocket, so I guess I’m not really sure how dangerous that is. I mean someone could demand my keys and take off, but they could do that anytime I was outside.

Another Canadian here…
NO… don’t lock the car doors if I am right at the pump standing next to the car.
YES… if I have to go inside the Service Station to complete the transaction (like if they don’t have Full Serve, or Self-Serve with a Credit Card slot in the pump)
IF, it is after my gas purchase, for additional items (Pop, Water, Snacks et) then I am like @Eight6Eleven:
and MOVE my car elsewhere on the lot, so others can use the pump once I am done.

@This Time Round:
It drives me crazy when cars don’t do that! Especially when it’s crowded and other cars are obviously waiting. If I’m the only one there I might not move my car though.

Depends on which city I am in…I have family in 6 different cities and go to school in another and not all of them are the safest of places.

Ditto to everything you said!

Only if I’m going inside.
Otherwise, I know who whoever steals my car will quickly give it back, especially in this weather. I keep nothing of value inside and the a/c doesn’t work. They’ll regret it if they steal!
oh, plus the gas gauge is broken so they’ll think they’re running out of gas too! Haha, and this is why I am car shopping. LOL.
