Depends on the situation and the parents. I don’t think that just because mom carried the baby for 9 months and gave birth that she gets extra say. That said, I think most mothers have a natural intuition regarding the care of babies. I worked with child and family services so I saw way too many men left alone with babies abusing them because they’re crying or messed themselves and the guy didn’t know how to deal with it. Not saying that mothers don’t abuse their children but there are some things that fathers are not equipped to do.
However I mother should never completely discount the father’s advice. I see too many moms doing this and later these moms are pissed that the father doesn’t want to have anything to do with raising the kid or dressing the kid or feeding the kid, or…. Take a break mom and let dad dress the kid in mismatched clothes. Let him give the kid a bath because dad doesn’t know how to properly change a massive blowout diaper. Most of these things are not really a big deal and if you don’t freak out everytime, dad will learn and bond even more with the child.
