Yes. DH’s mom and sister-in-law are both friends with his ex-FI. Actually, his mom is still friends with at least 2 of DH’s exes. It’s one if the reasons DH is upset with his mom, and I’ve never met her.

If I ever do end up meeting my Mother-In-Law, that will be pretty weird for me. I believe that when a relationship ends, so should the family friendship.

No one in my family is in contact with an ex of mine and I believe that’s the way it should be.  I am also of the opinion when a relationship ends, so should the family one.  My FI’s SIL is friends with all of my FI’s exes on FB and every one of their family members and still makes contact from time to time..  This SIL has also caused us a lot of headaches and seriously pushed boundaries, nothing to do with exes though..

None of the rest of FI’s family is friends with anyone.  I’ve had to put my foot down because some of the FI’s exes family members have tried to text/friend him on FB and I’m not ok with that.  One of the exe’s brothers even texted my FI while we were at church with my parents on Christmas Eve!  He has ignored their repeated attempts and they’ve finally stopped.  Luckily my Fiance has no interest in keeping in contact with any exes or their famly members!

I actually have a whole thread related to this as my FI’s mother let her his ex girlfriend live with them after she got dumped by some guy. She is considerably older than Fiance, and it was all so awkward for me. It’s actually kind of ruined my relationship with Future Mother-In-Law, because that’s something no one in my family would even think of doing, especially without discussing with us. I was never sure of our relationship, as she’s very quiet and uncomfortable to be around, and that kind of sealed it for me.
