Champagne bottles from other tables! After the toast and people had moved on to other things so no one cared. But I was only 19 so it was very scandalous! (I voted no though)

Re: gift table, we have a good friend who tends to still be responsible when drinking who is in charge of the envelope box.  My fiance is expecting his family/family friends to bring lots of cash/checks.

Re: stealing booze, I went to a wedding a few years ago at a NICE venue.  There was a cocktail hour, but then when we sat down for dinner there was no wine or anything at dinner. Ok, maybe one glass of wine per person.  Anyway, we were all staying at the hotel (i.e. not driving) and had started drinking during the cocktail hour.  The lack of wine w/dinner was a buzz kill, so someone at my table (who *might* be me) stole a bottle of wine from the catering supply closet.  I am like 6″ tall so I tend to not blend in w/the scenery and still can’t believe I got away with it…I tend to not be so slick when I am drinking.

I heard horror stories about how someone stole a couple’s cardbox and got all their cash. We kept ours on a table far away from the exit for that reason…not because we didn’t trust any of our guests but because of the random anybody joe employees working the venue. I know that sounds really judgemental and paranoid, but you NEVER know!

As for stealing from a wedding, I’d never dream of it.

My husband’s cousin had a graduation party this summer. One of the guest’s SO has a drug problem and basically stole all the cash from the cards during the party. It was pretty unspeakably awful. I was glad I didn’t get a monetary gift card. Ugh. I think they should file charges, not so much to be mean about it but have that person get the help they need through a court order!

The wedding we were just at I was talking to the bride about her desserts (she had 3 pies instead of a cake). She was so excited, she said she was saving her pie to eat during the speeches. She walked around and was talking to people for a few minutes before the speeches started and when she came back her piece of wedding pie was gone….and there was no more left. She looked so disappointed!

On another note – Kinder Surprise eggs are huge between my husband and me and have been since we started dating – he proposed to me by putting my ring in a kinder surprise and sealing it back up. So our favours were kinder surprise eggs – after dancing I went to open my favour to see what toy I ended up with – someone stole the brides fricking kinder egg – it totally does not compare to cards or gifts – but darn it I will NEVER know what toy I got!!! BLAST!

I have heard of it happening to a few people, but I myself would never!  So wrong!

@s_h_e_l_b_s: That’s how my DH proposed to me! He had my ring in a Kinder Egg. He had even bought a second egg as back-up in case he broke the first one!

@ kelmac – I normally eat the chocolate first then go for the toy but I am a bit of a germaphobe and all I kept thinking as I was opening it (because it looked like it had been handled a bit was) oh my god did he pick me one up off the floor or what. I went straight for the toy which he wasn’t expecting and he almost fell over and just blurted out will you marry me lol. After I said yes I kinda looked at him for a minute and then asked…..”so…what was the toy that was in here anyway” lol

I’ve never stolen anything from a wedding. I’m glad our “cardbox” is an old mailbox that lock and weighs like 60 lbs, haha. At our friends’ wedding in May, they had their top layer of cake boxed up for them and sitting at their table while they were dancing and mingling, and someone took that!

    Funny post!

I wouldn’t steal anything, but I had my stuff get stolen, while I was a bridesmaid in a wedding.  My wallet was taken from the locked bridal room during the ceremony. One of the guys had his whole backpack stolen during the same ceremony.  Some people know how to take advantage at weddings, don’t they?!?

I think I’ll have someone watch our gift table!
