We haven’t finalized names yet, but most of the ones we like are family names.

We chose family names too.  Ryder Joseph is our little boy, due in July.  Dh’s middle name is Ryan but we have a very close friend names Ryan Joseph and thought it might be weird to name him the exact same name.  And Joseph is a family name on both sides.  I love the idea of using family names if it’s possible 🙂

I’m a music buff.  I love any and all types of music.  My IPOD has over 5,000 songs on it that range from everything from Mozart to Zeppelin.  A lot of bands people haven’t heard of, songs that can only be found on rare B-side albums.

Anyway my favorite band from the time I was in middle school until late 20’s was Smashing Pumpkins.  They are still a favorite but since they aren’t really a band anymore I can’t look forward to hearing new albums and I can only relive the glory days by putting in an old album.

My oldest was going to be named William (after SP front man Billy Corgan).  I had a change of heart though and for some reason didn’t feel my oldest was a William.  I changed to Bush front man Gavin Rosdale and named my oldest Gavin, middle name Kelly because I just love the name Kelly for a boy.

My 2nd pregnancy I had twins.  A boy and a girl.  My boy is named Corgan Dean (Corgan after SP frontman Billy, and Dean after my paternal grandmothers maiden name).  My daughter is named Tristessa Alleyne (Tristessa after a song off of SP first album Gish, and Alleyne after my maternal great grandfathers middle name.  In our family if its a boy Alleyne is pronounced Allen, if its a girl its pronounced Alleen).

Other names that were considered for a girl were Layla Jaxyn (Layla from the song by the Dominos and later Eric Clapton.  Jaxyn because I like the name for a girl and we’d call her Jax). Or Lakyn Henlie (I like the name Lakyn and Henlie from Don Henley).  Another boy name I considered was Cash Dylan (Cash from Johnny Cash, and Dylan from Bob Dylan).

I’m not married yet, have no children, and am not pregnant, but we’ve at the very least chosen the middle names so far: Gilbert after FH’s grandfather as a middle name for a boy and Jean after FH’s grandmother as a middle name for a girl. We are actually big fans of classic names. Right now I am leaning towards Emily Jean for a girl. There’s no real reason for Emily except that we both like it. Our top pick for a boy right now is George Gilbert but I have a feeling we’ll be talked out of George. Once again, we both like it, but we always joke that our son will be named George to my older sister who hates that name.

My FH is a huge West Wing buff and his favorite character is Toby Ziegler.  He is also a  big fan of Brett Easton Ellis, the writer of American Psycho.  So we have agreed on Tobias Ellis for a boy with the nickname of Toby.

The girl name is eluding us though.  I keep telling him we need to pick something out or we will definitely have a girl with no name.  Right now our only agreement is on Selene and Grace but neither name really has us excited so we are still searching.

We both love the movie Prince of Persia – Sands of Time. FH has an obsession with the name Dastan (Main character) and I don’t mind it. The middle name will be a family name – Andrew is baby’s Dad, John is my dad, or Neil is his Dad.

For a little girl we both absolutely LOVE Alice. I love Alice in Wonderland and we both love Resident Evil. Her middle name will likely be Lily because it’s our favourite flower, or Lillee so she’ll have her Nanny Bird’s name (Lee).

For baby’s first name, Darling Husband loved a Biblical name that had a tricky spelling (Canaan) so we chose a very similar name with a simpler spelling. For his middle name, we went Biblical again except it’s a word in DH’s favorite verse in the book my Darling Husband is named after. My descriptions make both his names sound weird but I promise they’re very normal 🙂

I wanted a name for my son that I didn’t hear everywhere and something that was spelt like it sounds. I ended up seeing the name Kian in the baby book and kind of liked it so I changed it a bit and named him Keyan.

If my husband and I ever decide to have a baby we like Carlisle or Lavery for a boy and Kennedy for a girl. Just names I’ve liked for years.

It’s kind of easy in some ways for me and Fiance to come up with names.. we took the chinese character that we like from his name and mixed and matched with others until we got a girls name that we like (Rimi) and then I wanted the chinese character meaning British, since I am, so we just stuck that on the end for the boys name, ending up with Hidetoshi, or just Hide (pronounced Hiddeh) for short.

We’re not TTC anytime soon, but we’ve gone over possible names. My SO has some family names that I’m still wrapping my head around (It’s Ernest. And I just can’t do that to a kid. Even Ernie, which is a family name on my side as well, just sounds so unfair to my future son). The only name that I’ve called “dibs” on (we talked about it, he likes the name as well, so we’re going with it) is our first daughter will be Peyton. I heard it from One Tree Hill, which was my favourite TV show (I have a OTH tattoo as well), and my favourite character. I think it’s a good strong name that works for both a young girl and a woman.

All our middle names will be family names. We’ll alternate who’s family, starting with the opposite gender of the first born (so if it’s a boy first, I get final say and he does if it’s a girl first).

Our daughter is due in four weeks and doesn’t have a name yet. When we finally choose, it will likely just be a name we both like and can agree on (which is a challenge for us!) with no real significance.

If we ever have a son in the future, his first name will be after my grandfather (that was a non-negotiable going into our marriage!) with whatever middle name we like at the time.

@emersynsmommy35:  FH doesn’t like Toby either but he got over it after I said it a few times; now he thinks it’s sweet.  If our son ends up hating Toby then we can always call him Tobes, Tobyn or Tobias, or even Ellis for his middle name.
