The thought occurred to me that we talk about pretty much everything except this: how do you feel about using public restrooms? I can’t hardly bring myself to use one unless I have NO other options and about to embarrass myself. What about the rest of you Bees?

It really doesn’t bug me. Darling Husband on the other hand is a huge germ-a-phobe and avoids them if at all possible.

If I had the choice, I wouldn’t use one. But sometimes, you just gotta go, so you don’t really have a choice (especially when you are PG!). Then I would aim for a cleaner one.
Generally speaking, most suburban bathrooms don’t horrify me, but the ones I encounter at gas stations on road trips do. Most recent, I had to go like REALLY BAD and the gas station one was disgusting. It was a unisex bathroom and the urinal was flooded over and the flood was covered in probably .5-1″ of urine. At that point, I was sad I’m a terrible squatter because it would’ve been better to just go in public.

If they are reasonably clean they don’t bother me.
However, I really do wish that all us ladies could agree to just sit down when we pee and not do the hovering thing. It just gets pee all over the seat and people don’t wipe it off and even if they do it’s really just gross. But I know there is zero chance of getting us all on the same page with THAT.

@kimm99: I hear you on that.

Public bathrooms don’t bother me at all. I try to pick a clean looking stall but I don’t purposefully try to avoid them or anything.

They are a BIG no for me, unless I’m far from home and about to mess myself. Sounds bad but once “popped a squat” (as my fiance calls it) in the woods to avoid using the public bathroom. The bathroom was horrible though and most of the stalls had feces and such all over the place and it smelled terrible.
I’ve done so as well out side of families homes (one in particular) that has disgusting bathrooms. Especially for number two. The idea of a possible splash of water from a public toilet horrifies me

I’m a flusher! If I MUST do a #2 in a public restroom, I flush that toilet like there’s no tomorrow! I try to make it home if I possibly can! o_O

Not all public restrooms are created equal. Some are great, but others are disgusting. I do have to say that I third that women should stop squatting to pee – I never understood the logic in it. It’s so unclean that you’re peeing on it?

Meh, when you gotta go, you gotta go. Unless it’s just an absolutely disgusting mess, it really doesn’t bother me.
And oh god yes, stop the hovering to pee phenomenon. It accomplishes nothing except leaving a mess for the next person.

It depends on the place. I have seen some pretty nasty things that made me not want to pee anymore.

I’m fine with them, unless they’re really dirty or disgusting. I do try to avoid gas stations, except for places like Sheetz where they are usually very clean. I don’t think twice about places like restaurants or stores.

I avoid them when at all possible.
And I will not stop hovering. What if the person before me was peeing out some radioactive tracers (it happens more often than you might expect), was puking, had “stomach problems”, is not a frequent bather, etc.?
However, I’m a markswoman… there will not be pee all over the seat when I leave.

@Sweet_Tea: I don’t like to, but when you gotta go, you gotta go lol. I take my sweet time cleaning the seat off and/or putting on a seat cover if they’re available.
My routine is fairly similar from week to week, so it’s fairly unusual that I find myself in a public bathroom that is unfamiliar and/or really ghetto (for lack of better term lol).

I dont like public bathrooms but I will take them over an outhouse/portapotty anyday!!!!!!!
