I went to prom in 2010 and just had loose curls. But whats funny is I still think of “prom hair” and gelled icky hair do”s. If you would have found in it Seventeen Magazine Prom issue in 2000 or anywhere in any Deliah’s catalog. Prom Hair.

I think they’re both the same, IMO. I told my stylist that I didn’t want “typical bridal/prom” hair, which I quantify as anything tight, perfect, shellaced, etc. I’ve seen some pretty “promy” wedding hair styles, both in person and on here. I prefer something looser and a little imperfect. I don’t think bobby pins have anything to do with it–how else are you supposed to achieve an updo without them?

My salon only has two options: special occasion style and special occasion updo.
