I don’t have pictures of my mom or grandma’s ring, but my grandma had a 4 carat round brilliant with baguette side stones. It was her 40th anniversary gift from my grandfather, who couldn’t afford a ring when they first married. Unfortunately, the ring was stolen (probably by one of the caretakers who was taking care of her when she was in her 90s and could no longer care for herself) and my family is devastated it’s gone.

My mom’s ring is a simple yellow gold oval solitaire in a six prong setting. Center stone is around 1 ct. she’s never been a huge diamond person so she never wanted something flashy.

Here’s a pic of my 2 ct center (3 cttw) triple shank e ring. Definitely the most intricate setting of the three rings!

The photos I have of my mom’s and my grandma’s (mom’s mom) rings aren’t the best quality, but I think it’s cool that we all have different colors of gold!

My grandma’s is a very flat and wide band, looks like channel set side stones and I think a bezel center, all set in white gold.

My mom just recently added a band to her ring. Her’s has been upgraded a few times now. Her current set is yellow gold.

Mine is a 1.31 carat center with milgrain and side stones, all set in rose gold.

I love how different they all are!! ๐Ÿ™‚ Hoping to get a photo of all three of our hands together at my wedding in May!

slomotion :  It is! It’s my favourite crystal and I’m not a big fan of diamonds so FH and I went with moonstone.

My mother didn’t really like jewelry, when she was married to my dad all she wore was just a plain 14k band, my dad didn’t bother wearing a ring. My grandmother she wears a baguette channel set bypass ring with a 1ct center diamond.

Only thing we really have in common is the centre stone shape and the combination of gemstones and diamonds.

My mum’s ring is a two tone, white and yellow gold bezel set pear diamond with 3 princess cut sapphires either side. Bad picture but it’s the best I could find:

Mine is an emerald pear with a diamond halo set in rose gold. I think our centre stones are about the same size too.

My mom got married when she was 18.  Her engagement ring was some sort of small stone, no clue what it was.  Definitely not a diamond and probably extremely cheap.  She eventually got some sort of 80s/90s yellow gold ring that I think had a diamond, but honestly I really never paid attention to it so I can’t even remember what it looked like (she got divorced a few years ago so I haven’t seen it in awhile).  My grandma married my grandpa (a coal miner) when she was only 16 and I’m pretty positive didn’t have a ring at all.  I have a a 1.20 carat round brilliant solitaire in a platinum setting.  My mom and grandma don’t care about jewelry at all.

My grandma has a gorgeous sapphire oval. My mum has a 2.09 ct G solitaire on plain platinum band. I also have a 2.15 ct G solitaire on plain platinum band (they’re pretty much identical haha).

I don’t have a pic of my moms original but it was a .25ct round platinum solitaire, it was stolen, but here’s a pic of the replacement which she gave me and no longer wears. And a pic of mine….way different styles lol

My moms ring is a 1ct princess cut with baguette diamond on the sides…channel set. Mine is a 1.76ct oval with half moons and shield diamonds. The simple band is my dads wedding band that my mom now wears…

No woman in my family had an engagement ring (we are European) and only my grandma and my uncle actually wear/wore their wedding bands. My mom got a 0.5 ct (4prong basket in WG) from my dad about 30 years ago and I remember how she always though it was huge. It got stolen though. She was devastated. It was replaced by another 0.5ct in the same type setting. Then my dad got her a 1ct dimaond she recently resent into a halo and got herself an asher eternity to go with it. My aunt went through a couple of 1ct engagement style rings and a couple of wedding bands (she frequently looses stuff, including my late grandmother wedding band I dearly wanted – I am still mad about that) and now she has an anique 1.5ct 5 stone ring she matches with some kind of eternity ring.

My grandma doesn’t wear a ring, so I don’t even remember what it would have looked like. My mom has a twisted gold band with three small diamonds in it, but I don’t have a picture of it. Mine is an oval sapphire with a diamond halo, so pretty different.

Lol mine doesn’t compare at all. My grandmother had a 3ct round and my mom has an antique 1.5ct and mine is actually my grandmother’s grandmother’s but the shank cracked so I had it reset and the setting will make the .48 ct stone look much more substantial. This is the CAD for the ring

Oh my gosh!  I absolutely love everyone’s rings!  I had my mom’s ring fixed after 17 years of her being gone. I love it more than my own!  It’s an illusion setting with a baguette. It’s circa 1964. She would hav3 thought my new ring was “over the top”. Lol.
