My sister did this back in December and her reception was 5 hours I do believe :-/ Kinda too long In My Humble Opinion. Because a few people still say “there is going to be more to eat at your reception than there was at your sister’s right?” So… I think unless you have apps/cookies/ other treats kinda going around all night long, It should be like 3 hours.

Edit: Because they served the apps buffett style like it was a meal, so people treated it as such but there was not enough there for it to be as filling as a meal. Sorry if that sounds confusing lol!

We started the reception around 3, and by 4:30 everyone was pretty much gone. We just had cupcakes and was to have a cocoa and cider bar but it turned out to be 75 degrees outside so few people took advantage. We also didn’t have dancing, just chilling and talking.

We had a 1:30 wedding with a reception in the fellowship hall of the church. Hors d’ouevres, cake, tea. It was over at 4:30. We had the normal stuff, but didn’t do dancing.

We are planning for 2 hours, but we’ew not having alcohol or a band or anything. However the following day we are having an all-day pig roast.

We’re doing an appetizer buffet and limited cocktails/beer, planning on 3-3 1/2 hours.
