(Closed) Spinoff: How many wives out there don't wear their W-rings?

My rings only ever really come off when I’m doing something messy or sleeping. But they go in the same place every time, and go right back on my finger when I’m done. He spent a lot of his hard earned money on them, so I want to make sure he knows how much I appreciate them and what they represent.

I have an excuse, I’m pregnant. I took my rings off at about 14 weeks and don’t know when I’ll be able to put them back on. I thought it would bother me, but now not wearing them I realize wearing them everywhere is not a big of deal as I thought previously.

DH decided to polish to polish my wedding band, and then he broke it.  So until he replaces it, I’m ringless. πŸ™‚

I take off my engagement ring when I’m cleaning, showering, baking, working out, etc. Once or twice I’ve forgotten to put it on when leaving the house, but I’m usually pretty good about remembering.

My wedding ring stays on at all times. I deliberately got a very simple, thin band so that it would never be in the way or out of place, no matter where we travel or what kind of physical labor I might be doing. I’m pretty sure DH would be disconcerted and upset if he ever noticed that I wasn’t wearing it. When I’ve taken it off to clean it and walked away, or to put on lotion or something, I notice within 30 seconds that it’s not there. It’s part of me now, and I like it that way.

I wear mine pretty much all the time, and take them off only when doing something messy.  DH takes his off a lot more than I do, and forgets to put his on.  That bothers me, and I’m looking forward to reading that thread.  Today is the first day that I haven’t worn my e-ring.  Both of my rings have tiny metals balls on the inside of the band to prevent them from rotating around (I could have sized it smaller, but was afraid they’d be too tight).  But the inside of my finger was irritated by the balls (I think I had way too much salt and caused my fingers to swell).  So I left my e-ring at home, and am wearing my wedding band turned so the balls are on the front of my finger (it’s a thin band that goes halfway around with diamonds, so now it just looks like a thin metal band since the diamonds are on my palm side).  The inside seems better now, so I should be able to wear them both tomorrow.

I wear it most of the time, but I’ve definitely forgotten them a couple of times (usually I send H a text that day telling him we aren’t married πŸ™‚

I take them off for showering, sleeping, messy cooking, and sometimes at the gym. I have an eternity band, so if I’m doing weights or something, I don’t want the ring and diamonds getting banged up.

I wear mine 99% of the time when I’m outside of the house, and probably 80% of the time when I’m home.  I’m currently ring-less until next Monday evening πŸ™  I am finally getting my wedding band and engagement ring soldered together and my husband surprised me with a diamond upgrade, too!  Until then, I’m wearing a random silver band that I’ve had forever on my left hand.  It definitely feels weird not having my rings.

I take mine off every time I go to volleyball and I think it is pretty clear that I do so to prevent injury to me and damage to the ring. My DH understands and supports this completely and everyone knows I am married so it isn’t like I’m fooling anybody.

The only person to ever comment it my Mother-In-Law. Sometimes when we take the dogs for walks in the evening I forget to put my rings back on (I take them off the moment I come home). As we walk by our in-laws house they often come out to say hello and once or twice my Mother-In-Law has mentioned that I wasn’t wearing my rings.

I always take my engagement ring off to sleep and sometimes my band too. I wear only the band when running or going to yoga or if we’re outside, working in the yard etc. When we go camping later this month I will probably only take the band. For the most part I wear the e-ring and w-band all day every day but there are definitely exceptions to that rule. My husband never takes his off but I can’t stand sleeping with jewelry on most nights!

How many wives out there tend to not wear your wedding band?

Because now I am pregnant and at one point it took lotion for me to get the ring on…. now its just plain ridiculous and I can’t get it… I love my ring and wore it constantly before the pregnancy, but now… I just can’t get it on all the way! lol πŸ™‚

Does your SO comment on your naked fingers?

No, my husband understands how much I love my ring. In actually he was the one talking me into taking it off because he was concerned about the struggle I went through on a daily basis to get the ring off my finger! lol

Once our baby is born I will get back into that ring….

I wear mine all the time, but only because I wear a ringwrapper that protects my ring. My ring is still a bit too big, so I worry about it falling off when I’m washing dishes and going to the beach and stuff. Fortunately I live across the street from the beach, so when I forget my RW in the house he’ll go in in get it for me—cheap insurance! Plus I’m still in that “love to wear my ring and stare at it” phase.
