We are 22 & 23 years old and make $75k. Neither of us have a degree and we don’t come from money. In our area, we are doing pretty well. We were able to buy a 2 story house with a basement for just shy of 100k if that explains the town at all.

    City Average Income: $24,480
    State Average Income: $48,273

We made 113k last year. This year should be more, my wage at my most recent job is almost double the wage from my main job last year… Completely different place of work though.

Between Fiance and myself we bring in about 36,000. We’re both in entry level positions making a couple bucks over minimum wage. Where we live we’re able to live comfortably and with bills coming in at less than 1,500 a month since we own both vehicles and live in a reasonably priced area that leaves us with some spending/saving money as well. It works for now. Once Fiance is done with school the starting salary for his field in our area with no experience is projected to be between 70,000-80,000 and it’s a growing field so best casenario we’ll be making just under 100,000 grand a year at that point which will definitely be nice.

For context as suggested by another Bee the median household income in my area is $50,439 and the median home value is $218,100. We also got really lucky. We pay $725 for a one bedroom apartment on a street/in a district that often has studios listed for around $1,000. Neither of us have degrees, although Fiance is working on a degree in computer science and aspires to secure a position as a software engineer after that.

Our combined is over the upper limit– so we’ll just put it down as $200k+.  We live in NJ where everything is expensive.  DH has bachelor’s and master’s degrees and I have a bachelor’s.

Fiance and my situation is very similar kuriousbee‘s. Combined income of $200k+, fiance has bachelor’s+masters, I have a bachelor’s. We live in San Francisco, where the median household income in 2014 was just over $100k (2015/2016 numbers are likely slightly higher). The median home price is over a million dollars 🙁 — we rent an apartment in the city.

I live in SoCal. Rent for a shady looking apartment in a gross part of any city is around 2000+ for a 2 bedroom. But boy do I love California 😀 lol

I’m a Stay-At-Home Mom, but our income is higher than the poll extends.  My husband is a software engineer.

Mars62312:  It fluctuates a bit depending on bonuses but generally 220-240k.  It used to be more but I scaled my work back a lot and took a pay cut to match.

Ballet513:  Everyone tells me NYC is hella expensive…. I can’t even get a 1 bedroom apartment here in the suburbs of Vancouver for a grand a month. We really have surpassed as the 3rd most expensive city in the world. -_-“

Combined we make about 90k a year, not including any overtime Fiance does, and I only work part time since I’m studying.
