We pretty much planned on what our parents offered to contribute…which was $5,000 total. We probably ended up paying about $1,000 out of our own pockets, not including honeymoon and rings.

We are pretty much paying for the whole thing ourselves. My mom bought my dress (~$500), but I’m paying for my whole family to come out, their hotel, food, etc., so ultimately that is way more than $500. FI’s parents said they’d pick up the rehearsal dinner, but I suspect we will be paying for that as well.
We are both established and have good jobs, so I don’t mind that we are paying for almost everything. That being said, I can’t believe how much things have added up even trying to have an “inexpensive” wedding. We ended up paying for all the clothes for the wedding party, and my future sister in law guilted me into paying for her and her daughters to get their hair done (even though I myself won’t be getting my hair done for the wedding). I don’t mind paying for the wedding… except for things like that.
