I used to get highlights every FOUR weeks! Yikes! They were $80 a pop!

I dyed my hair back to it’s natural dark brown, and I get it colored every 2 months or so? My old highlights kind of shine through if I wait much longer, and not in a good way. Eventually they will grow out and I will be left with my natural hair color. Dying is only $40.

I do my hair every 2-4 weeks, depending on how much my hair fades and whether or not I have time. It’s worse in the summer because I have to wash it more often and vivid red is a pain to maintain. I do it myself and it only costs about $10 a box so right now it’s only $10 per colouring. I’m letting my hair grow though and it’s almost to the point where I’ll need two boxes per colouring.

Same here! Highlight mine every 8 weeks and it costs 150.00 but it’s long and thick and takes 6 hours grrr…. that’s the worst part.

I get a root touch up every 6-8 weeks, it’s about $35 but only because I know the girl.  Otherwise it would be a LOT more expensive.  I’m one lucky lady!

My hair grows really slowly and I’m cheap, so I usually go every 3-4 months to get full highlights and a trim. It costs $70 with tip. I plan to use her forever b/c she is so affordable!

Hey! My first set of highlights back in december cost £110 (despite the cost they didn’t notice much!) so I’ll be getting more done soon (and at a cheaper hairdressers too) 🙂

Oooh, I get a trim of the ends every 8 weeks for £12 too

My highlights are $100 for a partial and $150 for a full and I go about every 8 weeks. It used to be every 6 weeks, then I started getting lowlights and now I can stand my roots a little longer. Of course, now I’m goign gray so bad that I have to still go pretty often anyway!

Every 12 weeks (only because I stretch it) and it’s $80.  gah!  That’s just color – not highlights.

@Aure: 2 to 4 weeks or month? Because i would think that dying it that much would destroy your hair!

I had been boycotting the hairdressers for a year and only went once and tried to bottle dye it for $10. Yaaaa its looked HORRIBLE!

So i’m back to my 3-4 months for $160 + tip. Its expensive in my opinion…but my hair looks terrible if i dont go to a good hairdresser.  I’m blonde if that makes a difference.

@Rush1986: I do the roots and then let it sit on the rest of my hair for 5-10 minutes most of the time unless I’m switching shades. Red fades fast. For what it’s worth every hairdresser I’ve been too has commented on how healthy my hair is…

I have been dying my hair for 16 years, every 8 – 12 weeks for $12. a pop out of a box. I use Feria, am blonde (dark blonde naturally, light blond with the dye) and numerous people have been surprised to learn it is not my natural colour. It takes about 45 minutes total each time.

If I had been paying $100. per hair dye all this time, it would have cost me $9,600 over the last 16 years, as opposed to a total of $1,152. using the boxed dye. I have saved $8,448. and countless hours in a salon.

I will never go to a hair dresser for this service.

I have short hair that I’m sort of painfully trying to grow out so I get it cut every 4-5 weeks. Most of the time I also get it re-colored then as well (all over color, not highlights). It costs $115 with cut & color.
