We eat out alot but we don’t go drop $200.00 on dinner.  When he does that, like our anniversary, I thought that was a gift.   We usually drop about $30.00 for dinner if we just run out to get food.

I wasn’t sure what to count here as I tend to get either breakfast or lunch “out” at work almost every day but my hubby and I eat out about 2x per week. We both love to cook, but sometimes it’s also fun to go out and let someone else do the work…so we do a lot of both (cooking and going out).

We go out to eat once or twice a week (like sitting down at a restaurant). My SO eats out for lunch everyday, but I don’t count that. I cook all my other food besides the nights we go out because I’m a lot more health conscious than he is. Depending on where we go and if we get a drink, our dinners usually range from $40-100.  Unless we’re going somewhere uber fancy that we don’t normally go to, I don’t consider dinner a gift. Even then, it’s usually a prelude to something else. These dinners would probably cost $250-350.  We only do those 2-3 times a year though.

We eat out 2-3 times a week, but since that wasn’t an option, I went with 1-2. We’ve recently cut back on grabbing coffee and/or breakfast on the way to work, and try our hardest to eat breakfast and make coffee at home. So that’s definitely helped! $5-10/ morning per person adds up!

We tend to order in at least once Sunday-Thursday, and usually eat out once between Friday and Saturday. We’re not huge drinkers, but usually have a drink or two at dinner when we go out, which causes our bill to be more than it would be if it were just for food alone.

On Friday nights where we’ve had a particularly rough week, we go to a local bar and blow off some steam by eating greasy food and drinking a few beers or mixed drinks. Such as tonight 🙂

I love going to the US for work because dinner out is SO CHEAP compared to Canada! Honestly, no one here goes out for dinner on a frequent basis because of the cost, it’s a thing we do socially for sure but not frequently… it’s actually not unheard of here to go out for drinks only, or drinks and appetizers, or just tea and desert but it’s not very often that I go out for a dinner so for me, a gift card for a meal out (especially a NICE one) are my favorite!

That being said, DH have been eating out now more often then ever because I’m pregnant haha, so sometimes I just have cravings for random things here and there, but that still makes us eat out less than once a week, maybe 2-3 a month and on a normal basis we maybe eat out once a month or a little less.

We cook at home the rest of the time to save money and to try and keep it a bit healthier. We eat leftovers for lunch at work the following day or make ourselves lunch (like salads etc…).

ETA- regarding dinners being gifts, I mean when they come from people other than my DH (like my Mother-In-Law and Father-In-Law sometimes give us a gift card for a nice dinner for babysitting their dog, and I love that).

We go out to eat at least 2-3 times a week AND get takeout another 1-2 times a week on top of that. We live in amazing city with tons of great restaurants of every type of cuisine within a few blocks of us so we really take advantage of that. When we are trying to be good and go grocery shopping on Sunday we cook Mon – Thurs but go out Fri, Sat, Sun for brunch or dinner or both 🙂 It’s terrible for our wallets and I know we would save like $500 a month if we didn’t go out (since the bill, with tax and tip, is usually at least $50-75 for both) but it is so fun and we are trying to enjoy it now before we have kids and can’t do it much or have to move out to the dreaded suburbs, land of Applebee’s and Olive Garden (*shudder*)

We eat out a few times a month. Usually weekends or Friday nights. We order takeout about that often too. And we usually buy lunch at work a couple times a week as well.

Within the last few months we have really pulled back on our spending since we were expecting a baby.  We spent too much money on going out to eat, going to movies, etc.  So we limited to 2 fast food, 1 sit down restaurant, 1 theater movie, 2 movie rentals a month.

We try to save the nights we eat out for friday and saturdays but there have been times during the week where cooking dinner is just NOT happening (i.e tired, lazy, indecisive on what to cook).

To me, eating out always tasted better. I don’t know if it was the saltier food or what, but restaurant food was much more appealing. Since I am becoming a better cook in the home, the ratio of eating out vs cooking at home has reversed.
